    No hunger - 5.5yrs

Surgery date: 1/27/2011 I did great with my routine for a good while. If I didn't remember to get my food my wife or kids would. Then life sped up as the weight came off, I started focusing on the exercise and eating right. I never noticed that I never had hunger pangs or stomach "growling". No, I do not have an eating disorder. I have my phone set to go off to eat (but I can't exactly carry meals with me to appointments which I have a lot of, mine or kids), which I do eat. I often forget when home if I'm busy cleaning, I'm the house husband lol. well ff to now. I've passed my goal by... 30-35lbs or so. 200 was goal and I'm 166ish. I haven't felt a bit of hunger in so many years I honestly don't even remember what it feels like anymore. I do not regret the surgery one but as I was dying from my weight. I just miss being hungry lol

I have personal choice as my primary and Aetna better health as my secondary. I haven't brought it up to anyone yet. This is the first time Ive verbalized my want to get wls so I'm pretty unsure of how to address it with anyone including my dr.

    Premier Protein Reaction

Today marks two weeks until my surgery date. On the 25 my surgeon gave me two pre-op diet options. I wanted to try the liquid diet option, so I began right away. About half an hour after consuming a Premier Protein vanilla, I developed one of the worst migraines of my entire life. About an hour later I got violently ill. My headache lasted three days. Needless to say I will not be having that product again. Luckily my pre-op diet doesn't have to be liquid, but I'm now terrified for my post-op diet because it will be exclusively protein drinks. Has anyone else had a similar reaction to any of the protein shakes or powders?

Stay the course. ((hugs)) I struggle with loss while on all protein drinks. I build up fluid cuz they can be insulinogenic. I don't think I will really start losing until I'm able to get my insulin back down again while eating real food. That may take 3-5 weeks after surgery.

    Premier Protein Reaction

Thanks @Rae5148. I have been eyeing the Unjury chicken soup for months knowing I would enjoy a more savory option in general but am too stubborn about paying the money for something I won't know if I like or sits well with me. I swear the surgeons need to havea surgery party for people at some time around the pre-op with samples of all the different protein shakes. Oh well.

    PCP discouragement

I have a great relationship with my PCP and when I first told her about it she said the only way she would give me clearance is if I went to the surgeon that she recommended. So I agreed and I love My surgeon. If I was you because she is a great PCP I don’t think she will send you in the wrong direction. Good Luck

    PCP discouragement

I shopped around as a cash pay patient. Most surgeons in the US required medical clearance from my Pcp. Some wanted medical histories, some just a clearance. Luckily mine was awesome about it and ordered all my preop testing and post op blood work. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

    PCP discouragement

I'm sorry you are dealing with this. I realized after firing my PCP of 20+ years that she had a weight bias. She never suggested i even consider this - just stressed that I wan't trying hard enough to lose weight with the various plans she recommended. My new PCP said in our first visit - I think you're a great candidate for bariatric surgery. If you have decided on Mexico, then do it. Find a new PCP for your aftercare who deals with people who have had surgery. I have no tolerance for physicians with a fat bias
