    Bad eating habits

How hard has it been for everyone to change your eating habits pre-op? I'm so afraid of failing because we get lazy on some nights and no one wants to cook dinner. In turn I slip up and eat something that is a big no-no.

Your nervousness is completely normal. You'll be fine, I promise! Let your surgical team know about your anxiety, especially your anesthesiologist. They should be able to give you something to help you relax (I called it "happy juice" lol). That's what they're there for, to help make this as comfortable as possible for you! And when you wake up, you won't feel a thing. You'll feel like you've woken up from a nice nap. Think about why you're having the procedure and how much better you'll feel once you have no more heartburn! AND you'll lose more weight! So you'll feel better overall! Remember we're all here for you if you need us! Sent from my SM-G920T using BariatricPal mobile app

Why aren't you motivated? We can't motivate you. You have to motivate yourself.

I understand...we all do. I didn't sleep a wink the night before, and I was his first surgery that morning. Your surgical team does this all the time and can tell when patients are anxious. Mine certainly did. It will be over before you know it. [emoji4] Sent from my SM-G920T using BariatricPal mobile app

Changing your relationship with food is the only way to be successful in this journey long term. If the sweets are still an issue for you (i.e., the temptation is too difficult to overcome), then you need to talk to a professional about it. The only way you are going to be successful is to do what you need to do regardless of what is around you or what other people are eating. Good luck!

This came in up during a group meeting with our surgeon. We all told him what we were getting again. He described both procedures again. This was about 2 weeks before surgery and we had all been on a 6 month wait so we had discussed this in private with him several times. However, some of the people who were getting bypass starting wanting sleeves. Someone asked how do we know which one is best for us. He explained that its a personal choice but that sometimes if people have a lot more to lose, they chose bypass, or significant diabetes, they choose bypass. Even though I don't have it, but both my parents and grandparents have it, I opted for the sleeve. I'm only 6 days out, but I am 8lbs lighter and happy!

12 days post op = struggling

Yeah, so I've lived off of milk and home made broth. Tomorrow I start purees in earnest, and that will go much better! I've been lucky to not be sick, probably because I didn't push all those fake things. Oh, and Siggies drinkable yogurt or kieffer is da bomb.
