    Psych eval nightmare

Their concern is likely the fear of addiction transfer. A fair amount (I've seen numbers saying around 10%) of people after surgery develop drinking problems. So she's probably looking at if from the standpoint of occasional drug use (even if it's just weed) and a previous phase of uncontrolled drinking. Just remember that they are looking out for your well being. You can find another pysch to go to for a second opinion, but if you feel you have real issues to address now is the time to do it. Don't simply go looking for somebody to sign off without seriously taking into consideration of what is best for you long term.

    Ideas on what to eat?

I do not understand this 3 meals a day philosophy that some teams cling to. There is no way in the world (even at nearly 6 months post-op) I could get 100 grams of protein in 3 meals. I eat 7 times per day, about 2 hours apart. And I've lost 182 pounds. Obviously, eating more often, at least for me, is not prohibitive to weight loss. In terms of what to eat, I would suggest focusing on lean protein and non-starchy vegetables. I would stay away from rice, pasta, potatoes, corn, bread, sugar, etc. Even at my stage, I still eat string cheese and cottage cheese daily. I would establish some macros that you want to serve as parameters for your daily eating, and then choose good foods (as mentioned above) accordingly. Good luck!

Wow, maybe you should have read the part about the band had slipped out of position - it was causing daily vomiting. Or better yet not assume I'm an idiot and had not consulted my doctor. I was pregnant when it slipped, and the clinic I paid to put the dumb thing in went bankrupt a year before it slipped. No one would do anything for me till after the baby was born and then I had to wait, just like everyone else.

    Silly Question !! Maybe not

I think you shouldn't, as chewing gum may get you air into stomach

I am never allowed to chew gum again:-(. During the liquid phase I chewed sugar free popsicles. It was somewhat satisfying. Weird as it may sound I got all chewable vitamins and savored the ones that tasted good. Like I was chewing on candy. Lol. Now that I can chew and swallow tablets I've given up my hankering for chewable vitamins.

    Surgery approved

Thank you so much <3 Yes, I am very much aware that the mental struggle is going to be much harder than the physical struggle. I mean, bodies heal, they always do, but unfortunately there's not a "quick fix" for your mind. It's like quitting an addiction cold turkey. That's why I told my doctor like 'please, give me as much information and support as possible before the surgery so I can prepare myself mentally as much as possible and at least find some kind of peace'. I'm happy she agreed to let me make a new appointment, all though she also warned me to try and let it go as much as possible too and rely on them as she knows I'm really perfectionistic and a little bit of a control freak, which makes her fear I'm just going to make it more difficult for myself than it actually should be... I am happy to hear you're feeling great and the operation has helped you! How did things go for you in the beginning? It's hard to imagine not being able to even just drink water (I currently drink 2-4 L of water a day). XxX

    25 lbs gone

I've lost a total of 25 pounds since I started Kaisers Options class I still need to lose 8 more pounds and I have about 7 more weeks of class. I also have been using the FitBit which I love so much it shows you so much that you do throughout the day. After my class I'm hoping I get an appointment with the surgeon right away and get to have my surgery within 2 to 3 weeks after that date.

    Vitamins and taking pills

After surgery, I found that I could no longer swallow large or medium size pill and Vitamins. I used a pill splitter or a pill crusher. The worse was the large Calcium horsepills. After around 2 months I was able to again swallow these. After my RNY gastric bypass surgery, I had to take a variety of vitamins. This is because my body no longer has the ability to make vitamins from the food that I eat. Thus this is a requirement for the rest of my life. These Vitamin requirements are specific and your surgeon's office will provide you with a list. This is definitely more than your Multivitamin will give you. Your body may not be able to absorb some chemistries or delivery methods. For example any gummy vitamin will not work properly. Around once a year, you will undergo blood work which will focus on your vitamin levels. Therefore any deficiencies will be noted and your vitamin regiment may be changed to match your current needs. Medicine is designed with various layers so that as they react with the acid in your stomach, they will dissolve and be absorbed into your body properly. Therefore crushing and splitting medicine may have a downside. Since your stomach will be a lot smaller after surgery, this process may pose a problem. You may need to work this problem out with your surgeon's office.
