    4 Years Banded Today

So, today is my 4th Bandiversary. I cannot believe four years have gone by so quickly. I've had no complications. I keep up with my Vitamins. I see my surgeon about once a year to check on everything. My blood pressure is normal, my cholesterol is normal, my blood sugar is normal, my BMI is normal, yay!!! I have to say this has been the easiest weight loss/maintenance plan I've ever been on. Even with the stuck episodes. You need to keep a sense of humor with you for times of stuckage. I lost 70 lbs in the first two years and I've kept it off for two years with hardly any work. I love my band. I am concerned about keeping it with me for the rest of my life. It IS an implanted device after-all. So, that's why I see my surgeon annually. My primary care doc checks my Vitamin levels. Life is pretty darned good. My DH got me flowers today to Celebrate, what a sweetie.

Before I had my TT, I also wanted a thigh lift. The upper inner parts of my thighs were saggy and just didn't look good in a swimsuit. I also wanted breast implants and my surgeon would only do 2 procedures at a time so I chose the TT and implants. Well now I don't really need the thigh lift. It turns out if most of your thigh sag is at the very top and your doc does a really good TT that skin will be stretched and pulled up when they pull up all the groin skin. I'm not saying my thighs are beautiful and perfect now but they definitely are not saggy enough for me to spend the money or time on a thigh lift. I am so happy with my figure now:)

If you're a person who holds a grudge and feels betrayed about something like that, then my guess is that your friend and your in-laws didn't share their WLS "secret" with you because they were afraid of hurting your tender feelings by suggesting that you're morbidly obese and should have bariatric surgery to deal with it. I see people every day (strangers, friends, acquaintances, coworkers, etc.) who I think could benefit from WLS, but it would be mighty intrusive and presumptuous of me to approach them and say, "You really need to consider bariatric surgery for your weight problem." Their weight is their own business, not mine.

    New Found Food Obsession!

Pinterest has several of the green magical juice recipes. I haven't tried it yet but you can find it there. Warning tho.....Pinterest is addicting. LOL

Yep. I agree with this. I had lost 40lb before surgery and very few comments. When I came back after my 3-week leave, there were a few eyes popped then. It's the people that see you day to day that can't really tell but it's people like your hairdresser that see you about every six weeks that notice the most, I think.

lol I went to youtube and typed in (what does 5lb of fat look like) and it is shocking .....great motivation though 80 lb is GREAT actually AMAZING! I just can imagine someone not noticing 80lb thats the weight of a child ..WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH THESE PEOPLE? Great job PUGS! laddie, I love it to when my wrist feel smaller (I’m probably just dehydrated) but it makes me feel so petite. and for a son to give a compliment that is an accomplishment all of its own!

    From: Is This Self-Sabotage?

I'll be sleeved in April, but am on a 1200 calorie restricted diet and when I look at the times when I definately plateaued or gained it was usually from snacking as you've described. A little nacho dip and a few tortilla chips, a little bit of a high calorie dessert like cheesecake. A couple potato chips with real sour cream dip, a tortilla with butter. Not much, but these items were dense and high in calories or fat or starch, enough to stall my weight loss. This journey I'm on now is about losing the excess weight and when I am on track, logging in my food and staying in my calorie range, with planned goodies so that I don't feel deprived, I continue to lose consistently. It just brings it home...the statement that the sleeve is just a tool in this journey of ours to lose weight. The proof is in the puddin !! Thanks for your post!!

Aww, I am sorry to hear that. I totally understand how you must be feeling. But this too shall pass, as they say... you'll get banded and be on your way to becoming fit and fabulous. Why don't you create a challenge for yourself? Lose an X amount of lbs before surgery or something like that. It might make the waiting period seem like a little less of a pointless waste of time.

    Could I Be Your Mentor?

I too would love advice, I will be banded on March 9th!! So one question, what kind of foods did you gravitate to that really helped you? To be honest, I am not to sure what to eat???lol
