I did pretty good with my food yesterday. I turned down some homemade peanut butter cookies, I felt so empowered when I did. It felt good just to say "no thank you". I walked away from the cookies with a huge smile on my face!   Todays focus - drink water, lots of it. I am not getting enough water in and I think that is causing some bloating problems. So, today, I will focus on WATER.   Menu today   Breakfast coffee w/cream   mid morning water at least 8 oz   15 minutes after my water yogurt w/granola (SF yogurt)   lunch salad w/cheese & chicken   Dinner grilled fish veggies   suppliments - quickslim 30, flinstones   Exercise -

I will be having a glass of wine.

Fill #1 - 3/6/07 - 2.2cc's   Fill #2 - 4/17/07 - 3.0cc's   Fill #3 - 7/6/07 - 3.5 cc's (I think it was only 2.5cc's because when I went back for fill #4, he could only w/draw 1.8 cc's)   Fill #4 - 7/20/07 - filled me back to 3.0 ccs - He should have filled me more!   Fill #5 - 8/17/07 - 3.4cc's   Fill #6 - 10/08/07 - filled me to 3.8cc's - the best restriction I've ever had,but still could eat big bites of food, so I figured I needed to be tighter.   Fill #7 - 11/21/07 filled to 4.0 cc's. By the evening could not hold anything down, not even my saliva. PBing all night - horrilble experieince   UNFILL #1 - 11/23/07 - unfilled to somewhere between 2.5 to 3.0 cc's - NO RESTRICTIONS AGAIN :tt2:   Fill #8 - 1/18/08 Went in and the doc filled me back up to just right under 4.0, according to Flouro, it was perfect. Well, by next morning, could not hold down saliva again, ended up back in hospital   UNFILL #2 - 1/19/08 - Doctor had to unfill me to 3.0 again because of the swelling from all the PBing for being too tight. Again, NO RESTRICTION -   Fill #9 - 2/12/08 - 3.5 cc's - was tight for about a week, now feel lose again. grrrr, still have "some" restriction, just not quite enough! Next fill scheduled for 4/7/08 - I hate that it takes sooooooo long to get in to see the fill doc.   FILL #10 - 4/7/08 The doc just added .4cc's, making me at 3.9cc's. I think this might be the one!   FILL #11 - Was scheduled on 6/25/08 - but the doc did not fill me up, I was leaving for a cruise on 6/27 so he didn't want to risk me being too tight, so did not get a fill.   FILL #11 - 8/5/08 Went for a fill, this time the doc took all my fill out and all he could get out was 2.4 cc's. Filled me up to 4.0 cc's, I left, had to go right back because I could not drink, he took out a little over .2 cc's, he said I'm somewhere between 3.5 to 3.7 cc's. - I had great restriction for 2 weeks, but It has now loosened some. I feel I might need a tad more. I'm worried I have a very slow leak.   UNFILL #3 - 8/5/08 - Took a little over .2 cc's out, had pretty good restriction, but still a tad too lose.   FILL #12 - 9/17/08 - Added just 1/10th of a cc - I think I'm somewhere between 3.8 to 3.9 cc in a 4cc band. I am hoping and praying this is the fill that I stop with! I do not have another appointment for another fill, will wait this one out and see.   Fill #13 - 10/06/08 - Doc added about 2/10's of a cc. He took everything out and put it all back in and said I was about 3.7 to 3.8cc's. - which is where he said I was last time.   FILL #14 - 11/10/08 - Doc took everything out and I had about 3.6cc's, which is pretty good. He then filled me up to just under 4.0cc's I believe I'm about 3.9cc's. I ate some canned peaches and set around the office for a bit, made sure none came back up. Seems to be doing good so far. I hope this is my last fill!   FILL #15 - 08/10/09 - Added about 1/10th of a cc. I think I'm right at 4.0 cc. Wt on the morning of my fill was at 165. But was very bloated from steroids I was on for the previous week.   FILL #16 - 8/31/09 - My last fill lasted 2 weeks then I felt wide open. Went in for another fill, this time he did not take any out and just added 2/10th's of a cc. I think I'm just a little more than 4.1 cc's in a 4.0 cc band. I feel great restriction so far. I'm hoping this last. I'm sick of fills. lol. :w00t: - I could tell my fill was wide open, I was starving all the time, wt at the time of fill was 170! grrrrrrr   FILL #17 - 10/30/09 - completely drained me, checked for a leak - no leak YAY - added 4.6 cc's - I feel like he didn't add anything, feel wide open! Hungry all the time   FILL #18 - 11/09/09 Doc did barium swallow test - I think he thought I was full of it. He saw what I was talking about and agreed I was way too loose. He added 2.5cc's. I feel restriction again, but not a real tight restriction. I have no idea where I'm at these days and I really don't care anymore how much CC's I have, I just want RESTRICTION!!!!!!   Fill #19 - 11/23/09 - I had a some restriction, but not enough, the doc added 3/10ths of a cc. I feel pretty good, not too tight, which means it probably will get looser. I will ride this fill out and see what happens. Very discouraged at this point.   FILL #20 - 12/28/09 - did not take any fluid out, just added 4/10th's of a cc. Still feel lose, but on the fluro it showed I was tight, so we'll see how it goes.........

M1 - apple juice with daily 5 M2 - 1/2 cup of shredded hash brown potatoes - I was having a craving for them so gave in. M3 - grilled chicken breast salad - dressing on the side M4 - Grilled talapia fish - YUM M5   Exercise #1 - 30 min on Elliptical machine (20 min of it was HIIT) - 2.20 distance, 280 calories (burn baby burn!)   Weight - 186.4 this morning - come on 170's, let me go there! PAALEEZE. I can't believe this is really working. I look at the scale and am shocked I see the 180's. Then I look in the mirror and shock I'm still fat. I'm trying to work on my body image. I see a huge fat person instead of the weight I've lost. I know I have an issue with it, and it is something I am working on.

4/18/08 - 15 month banding anniversary

Today marks 15 months since my banding experience. I've done horribly the last 6 months, but I'm finally back on track and I will reach my goal by my 2 year, that is a promise!   Here is my weight history Highest weight - 248 1 mo post op - 206.8 2 mo post op - 198 3 mo post op - 193 4 mo post op - 184.2 5 mo post op - 178 6 mo post op – 174 7 mo post op - 178 - went on vacation and ate big (7 day cruise) 8 mo post op - 174 9 mo post op - 170 10 mo post op- 167 11 mo post op - 170 - haven’t even been trying 12 mo post op - 174 - again, not trying. But finally refocused - exactly where I was at 6 mos post op – so basically no weight loss in the past 6 mos 13 mo post op - 183 - Ouch! started taking steroids and made my weight go up, along with not eating right and no exercise! 14 mo post op - 185 - grrrrr 15 mo post op - 180 - weight is finally going down, but inches are actually coming off faster since I've been exercising a lot.   I think my 16 month band anniversary will be better, I should see some bigger results by then!   I hate that I allowed the scales to go up! But nothing I can do about it now except bring it back down again. And thats what I plan on doing.   My menu today:   Bfast - scrambled egg & sausage   Lunch - not sure yet, get off work early   Dinner   Exercise - Plan on going to gym this afternoon to work lower body

I'm so happy

I went to my seminar Saturday and yesterday the doctors office called me to see if I was interested in getting the band, and ofcourse I said yes. So they scheduled my appointment for November 22, 2006. I will meet with the doctor and they will file my insurance. I am hoping to have the ban in place in January.   I am just hoping my insurance will approve it because there is no way I would be able to be self-pay.

11/12/07

Last night I had a small pig out, I was worried about the scales jumping way up.   I had ham, mashed potatoes, corn, dinner roll and dessert. I was so full I thought I would puke. Even the ham was only 3 oz, and everything I ate was smaller portions, I ate too much. Miserable feeling.   I was worred about stepping on the scales, pre band, I would have gained 3 or 5 pounds in one night, no kidding. But I was only up .3 ounces, scale read 168.1. I was so glad not to see the 170's.   I am hoping to be at 165 by my 10 month band birthday which is 11/18. My goal is to be at 160 by my 11 month band bday, and 155 at my 1 year - 155 is my doctors goal, 145 to 148 is my goal.   I just so happy that I am losing again.   Todays menu   Bfast - Weight smart oatmeal   Lunch - lean ground beef with diced tomatoes, onions.   Dinner - 3 oz of ham, salad   Supplements - 2 multi flinstones vitamins, 1 quickslim-30   Exercise - 2 session of 10 min on recumbant bike - still working on my knee, it really hurts lately.

11/13/07

I have a headache like no other today. Its the kind that makes your entire body ache. I have a lot of neck problems that are the result of a rear end pile up (I was the first car, and then 4 others smashed into me), so I had bad whiplash. Well that was about 7 years ago, and it has come back and really bothers me. I've been seeing an upper cervical specialist, they are a little different than the regular chiopracters, (sp?), His office is closed on Tuesday's & Thursdays, so I am dying this morning. I really need to get in to see him to have my neck adjusted. I think that is what is causing my headache. It starts at the back of my neck and shoots all the way up and around to my temple, it even goes down to my shoulders.   Anyhow, I managed to stay off the scales this morning, a big accomplishment for me. I am trying to go until next Monday before I weigh. Or at least wait a few days. I am too obsessed with those scales, we have a love/hate relationship. lol.   My menu today:   Bfast   sugar free frozen big train with extra shot of expresso (I needed the caffeine today)   Lunch Ground lean beef with salsa, broccoli   Dinner 1 cup of bean soup with some lean ham - thick soup   Suppliemnts - multi vitamin, Quickslim 30   Exercise - hmmm, need to do it, but not sure if I will today.

4th fill and still not working

Went back for my 4th fill on July 20th, he withdrew my fluid from fill #3 and only withdrew 1.8cc's. That shocked me and explains why I was feeling NOTHING! And why I was HUNGRY. I was a bit worried, I told him he told me that he filled me to 3.5cc's the last time and asked if he thought I had a leak, he said no.   He then did the same thing as he did with fill #3, he completely filled my band and slowly withdrew the fluid until some started going thru the band. He ended me at 3.0 cc's. (this is the exact place I was on fill #2) what an idiot!   Anyhow, when he fills me up this way, I think my stomach swells and I have spasms and it looks like I have restriciton, but by the evening the swelling goes down and I lose the restriciton.   I'm back to no restriction or very little restriction. I leave on my cruise 8/4/07 so I am going to hold off on getting another fill until after I return because I don't want any problems with my fills while out of town and especially in the middle of the ocean.   I'm taking an appetite suppresion now, and tryin to DIET very hard to lose 5 more freaken pounds before my cruise. Which I don't think will happen .......grrrrrr. But all in all, I'm going on the cruise at 175 lbs or so, so I am happy that I've lost as much as I have since the band. My goal was to weigh 169 by the cruise, but I don't think that will happen, I'm a little disappointed, but not too bad.   I love my band, I just want my restriciton like everyone else! I want to have to eat slow and take small bites - right now I don't have to do any of this!   I have slipped on exercise the past week - but trying to get back to it. I did get on the elliptical machine yesterday and plan on doing it today. However, my weight lifting has slipped and I'm craving it so bad right now. I just have not had the time to get the gym, but I think tonight I will have to go no matter what!

I can't wait until Wednesday

The waiting is killing me. I go see the doctor on Wednesday, the 22nd. They will weigh me and send my paper work off too the insurance. I am just praying I get approved. I am so nervous about not getting approved.   I'm so anxious over all this, I hate waiting! But I know there is nothing I can do to rush the process, I just need to learn to be patient - something I am not good at.

11/19/07 - Happy Monday

Happy Monday, and I'm glad I have short week at work this week. I'm off on Thursday & Friday, and only work 1/2 day on Wednesday.   Well, this morning my boss made a homemade itallian cream cake (one of my favorites), so, I had a small piece of it. I wanted more, but I wouldn't let myself indulge any more. I really want to reach my doc's goal weight for me by my 1 year anniversary - so I need to eat right! I need to lose 12 more pounds in the next 2 months in order to reach it. It will be hard, because I only lost 3 lbs this month. But, I'm hoping to be able to start exercising pretty soon and that will help.   Today's menu   Bfast 1 cup coffee with s/f carmel cream 1 2x2" cake - BAD   Lunch 3/4 cup of turkey salad   Dinner Baked turkey broccoli   Suppliments - Quickslim30, 2 chewable flinstones   Exercise - 20 min on recumbant bike, 3 sets of squats against the stability ball/wall (my Physical therapy session) total gym.

only 4.9 lbs until I reach my original goal!

on 1/18/07 when I received my band, I set a goal to weigh 145. Well, I'm in the 140's now and only need to lose 4.9 lbs in order to reach that goal.   I've now decided I want to get to 135, but first I want to reach that goal of 145! I've already reached my doctors goal of 155. I've also already reached the goal of no longer being overweight. Its taken me over 3 years to do it, but I've done it! Or almost done it all. I'm just one happy camper today!

28 days until banding

Wow, just 28 more looooong days before I am banded.   My eating has been okay, last night we went out to eat, and it was kinda weired. Usually I can eat the entire plate and am licking the the juices off the plate, but I only ate about 1/2 of it. My DH said, "your not eating much", and I said, "I'm full". I think he about fell out of his chair. lol. I don't know if I have ever stopped eating when I was full.   Ever since that I found out I was approved for the band. I've tried to eat the banster way, not always succeeding, but it is on my mind, take small bites, eat slow, and chew chew chew. Proteins first then veggies. So, even without the band, I'm making some changes.   I have taken this surgery very serious and not looking at it as a quick fix, but as a tool. I am going to have to do my part in order to lose this weight.   The last few days, exercise has been zippo. I didn't go last night because my mother came over and she lives out of town, so I couldn't just leave her and run to work out. So my DH & I took my mother out for a nice dinner. My mother & I were a bit depressed so DH thought dinner out would be good (what a sweet guy I have :kiss2: ).   My Grandmother (who I love like no other) is slowly dying and it is really depressing for my mother & I. My Gma had a very bad stroke April 9, 2004 so because she was crippled, my mother could not take care of her anylonger. She needed 24/7 care and my mom could not lift my grandmother due to my mothers own health problems. So, since I am power of attorney over my Gma, I placed her in a nursing home. My mother & I visit her almost daily and have since she was placed there. But lately, her eating has gone down to about 25% of her food. Hospice informed us yesterday this is the first stages of death. I know my grandmother is in pain and I hate seeing her suffer daily, its just hard knowing that this woman I loved more than anythig in the entire world is about to leave me. And my mom is a big moma's baby too, and she always cared for my gma thru the years, so its hard on my mom too. Anyhow, its just a tough time for my mother & I to endure but I know it has to happen and I know in the long run, death will be so much better for my Grandmother than living like she is. I know she WOULD NOT want to live like this and she has told me that many of times that she never wants to dwindle away in a nursing home, which is exactly what she is doing. I wish I could change it, but I can't.   Anyhow, just expressing my emotions today.

10/12/09 -

I feel like I'm back on track and doing good. I actually feel like I have a brand new motivation again with my band. I ate good all week, and I FINALLY made it to the gym on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so basically 4 days last week.   I'm forcing myself to stay within 20 weight watchers points, and weight watchers program gives you an extra 35 points to use at anytime on top of the 20 points per day. Well, I'm trying to only do the 20 points per day and not tap into the 35 points. Last week I did it, I even went out to eat 3 times and managed to stay within my points. Even went for Mexican twice last week. So needless to say, I'm proud of myself. I'm proud that I was able to maintain my control.   I made it to the gym on Thursday evening and made sure I went thru the weekend. I only did cardio, but managed to do 50 minutes on Saturday and Sunday.   This week my goal is to keep up my exercise, and add some strength training into it.   I weighed last Monday and was up quite a bit from my low of 159, I weighed in on 9/5 at 169.7 - OUCH, today I weighed in and was down to 166.5, so I lost 3.2 lbs last week by sticking to my plan. I'm hoping to lose 2 lbs this week.   I need to get to my goal and quit playing around, I'm tired of yo-yoing up and down the same 5 or 10 pounds! The only reason I go up some is I start eating slider foods, or foods that are high in calories, even though I don't eat a bunch of them, they are still high in calories and will pack on the pounds eventually. Also, I quit exercising, and sure enough, 10 pounds came piling back on!   I've set a limit of 5 lbs for myself, if I go up 5 lbs then its strict, strict bandster eating until I lose the 5 lbs. I will not let myself gain 10 lbs again before I wake up and start eating right again!

40 months ago.............5/20/10

40 months ago I got the band. What a roller coaster ride its been. Below are my stats - month by month - as you can see, the longer you have the band and the closer you get to goal, the harder its been for me. Some fly right to their goal, for me, its been hard work - and lots of it! Also, lots of ups and downs, the band helps with controlling eating, but not slider foods (ice cream - chips, etc.)   So emotional eating has been something I continue to deal with. When I'm down, I eat. Its something the band has not been able to fix, and I'm still working on it every day.   Consultation with Doc 11/24/06 - 248.9 Surgery Date 1/18/07 - 226 1 mo post op (Feb 18)- 206.8 2 mo post op (March 18) - 198 3 mo post op (April 18th)- 193 4 mo post op (May 18th)- 184.2 5 mo post op (June 18th(- 178 6 mo post op (July 18th)– 174 7 mo post op (Aug 18th)- 178 - went on vacation and ate big (7 day cruise) 8 mo post op (Sept 18th)- 174 9 mo post op (Oct 18th)- 170 10 mo post op (Nov 18th) - 167 11 mo post op (Dec 18th) - 170 - haven’t even been trying 12 mo post op (Jan 18th 2008)- 174 - again, not trying. But finally refocused - exactly where I was at 6 mos post op – so basically no weight loss in the past 6 mos 13 mo post op (Feb 18th) - 183 - Ouch! started taking steroids and made my weight go up, along with not eating right and no exercise! 14 mo post op (March 18th)- 185 - grrrrr 15 mo post op (April 18th)- 180 - weight is finally going down, but inches are actually coming off faster since I've been exercising a lot. 16 mo post op (May 18th)- 178 17 mo post op (June 18th)- 175 18 mo post op (July 18th)- 179- still not focussed:sad: 19 mo post op -(Aug 18th) - 178 - focussed again - This time I am committed to getting to goal and will not stray! I do not ever want to see the 180's again! 20 mo post op (Sept. 18) - 171 - :rolleyes2: 21 mo post op (Oct 18) - 168 22 mo post op (Nov 18) - 169 - I am focussed and doing good, but need to get back to exercising. 12/1/09

Oh yeah, its on! I was up at 5 am and working out at the gym by 5:20 am this morning. Now, let me tell you, I was sooooo tired and didn't want to get up, after all I was at the gym until after 10:00 pm last night. But I knew that I would not be able to go tonight - so I forced myself up. I'm glad I did it!   First of all, I had a great workout last night, it lasted 2 hours, I did 60 min on elliptical and 60 min with weights, working my lower body.   This morning was pure cardio - did 45 min on the elliptical.   Tomorrow, I'm planning on another 2 hours at the gym, planning on doing 60 min of cardio and 60 min of weights (working the upper body)   Today's menu: 8:00 am - coffee w/cream 2 boiled eggs & 2 slices of thin bacon (290 cal)   11:00 - protein shake made with skim milk (200 cal)   2:00 - Tuna & broccoli (180 cal)   4:30 - yogurt, banana (160 cal)   6:00 - carrots & hummus (100 cal)   9:00 - Weight watchers snack - (140 cal)   As you can see, I'm eating quite often, just small meals. Trying to blast my matabolism by eating every 2 to 3 hours.   I also retook my measurements last night, and I did not weigh this morning. I put the scales up. I am avoiding the scales until 12/14/09. A two week progress check. I will re-measure and weigh at that time to see how I'm doing.   Okay, I'm off to work..............

2/28/10

Well, I started a controversial diet on 2/16 and so far it has been going good. I have read lots of negative stuff about it, mainly from doctors. I am always surprised at the comments from readers which are all positive, they had all done the diet and quite please with it, so I decided to try Dr. Simeons HCG Protocal. I did something similar to it back in the 80's but it wasn't quit the same.   I am down to my last 20 lbs to lose and I'm finding it very hard with just the band. So I decided to do the HCG diet which is pretty strict and so far I have not cheated one time. I've followed it to the T and am down about 13 pounds (This is about the weight that I've gained thru the winter so no need to get too excited)   Day 1 - loading days 178.2 Day 2 - 178.5 (another loading day) Day 3 - First day of VLCD 179.8 Day 4 - 176.2 Day 5 - 175.6 Day 6 - 173.4 Day 7 - 172.4 Day 8 - 171.1 Day 9 - 168.9 Day 10 - 168.9 Day 11 - 168.8 Day 12 - 169.0 Day 13 - 168.2 Day 14 - 167.6 Day 15 - 166.9 (total 12.9 pounds)   I have about 25 more days to go. My goal is to lose a total of 25, but its slowing down, so I will be happy with a loss of 20.   Its amazing how little hunger I have. With the band and the HCG, it seems to control the hunger. I'm proud of my will power too. I have stayed on the protocol and have not strayed at all. I've become creative with my snacking too.   Today I made "apple chips". Sliced a green apple up (peeled it first) and sliced it very thin, sprinkled stevia on the slices and cinnamon and baked in oven and made the apple chips. They are great for snacking and I can have a few thru out the day. I get 2 fruits a day. It also helps with my "sweet tooth".   Well, thats whats been going on in my life lately. I will post more in my journal.   PS - I would appreciate no negative comments, I was reluctant to post this however, I am keeping this blog for my future reference and have kept it updated from the very beginning of my research with Lap band, therefore, I decided to detail the HCG in my blog.   Thanks!

Well, I went to the gym last night. I received a 7 day free trial to the new Gold's Gym that opened up about 1 1/2 miles from my house, so I decided to go try it out. Even though I belong to another gym, which is just 1 mile from my house, I figured a change of scenery might be nice. Well, now I'm thinking about joining the Gold's gym too. It was really really really nice.   I went into the "cardio" room. It is a huge room with a freaken movie theater in it. Its like being at the movies, with surround sound and its dark. I jumped on the eliptical and before I knew it, I was into the movie and looked down and had done 45 min on the eliptical. Burned almost 400 calories. I loved that!   The bad thing is they do not have a "family plan" like my other gym does, so if I join, I will have to just join and pay additional and keep my membership at my other gym too so I can go with my family when they go.   Even though they rarely go......my 16 year daughter has been going a lot lately. She just won't get up in the mornings with me. I need a morning partner to help encourage me to get up! My weight this morning was less than yesterday. I seem to be dropping again.   wt 168.1   My exercise plans for today are: Exercise - 10am 20 min on eliptical Exercise - 3pm - 20 min on eliptical Exercise - 9:30 pm - 30 min on eliptical   Next week I will focus on getting back to stregth training 2 to 3 days a week. I will still need to do 5 days of cardio but I do need to add my strength training in.

How to get insurance to pay for your PS part 2

Another important thing is to be diligent. Insurance companies often have tactics to discourage you from seeking approval for procedures. Usually, the insurance company would prefer that you pay for reconstructive procedures yourself. So if you are initially denied: appeal, appeal, appeal. By law, the steps detailing how to appeal are listed on any letter that informs you of a denial. Take advantage of the information, and be prepared to submit an appeal in writing as necessary. Although with insurance companies, written documentation is king. But don’t be afraid to also call the insurance company to try to find out what factors led to their decision. (That’s what I did after I was initially denied, once I found out who made the decision, I called more than once and asked if my entire file was sent. After some research, I had the file sent again to the doctor who acted as the clinical director and I was later approved. ) Once documentation is received by the insurance company you'd be surprised how often file documents are separated, lost or mislaid. So if the insurance company or a specific department of the company (like the Pre-Determination department, which often makes the decision for reconstructive surgeries) says they didn’t receive the photos along with your file - then ask your surgeon’s office send them again. If they don’t have copies of letters from your other doctors, be prepared to send those again as well. Make sure you are fully prepared with any documentation they would need to make their decision, and you are better assured of approval. NOTES - I don't really know who to give credit for, but I found it while googling on someones blog, I couldn't find a name. But It is not mine - although this person was very informative and I appreciate her cander.

Well, starting my 10th week of the BFL challenge. It seems the last few weeks I have not been doing very well, I've lost that drive, that MOJO.   So last night I had another talk with myself, and looked at myself naked in the mirror (its a mind game I play with myself at times - lol). I asked, is the way I want to look? Of course the answer is NO, so I got my butt to the gym and was there for 2 hours!   So, I'm back in the game now. The next 3 weeks I will be working my ass off - I'm going to give it 110%!   I am only 33 lbs from goal! I can't believe it, NOW is not the time to slack!
