Ok, today was a bit harder for me. I've been on pain pills since the surgery and I decided to try and go without them today. WOW! All my incisions are fine except the one for my port which is still swollen and really painful. I hope nothing is wrong with it because I went to Mexico for my procedure so it's not like I can just make a follow up appointment if it doesn't get better. Also, today is the first time I've had hunger pains and they were super intense. I rushed home and had a protein shake which helped but it doesn't seem to tide me over for very long. Maybe I should be drinking more water, which is something I will try doing tomorrow. I don't know how everything else is going since I've decided to weigh myself only once a week and I did it yesterday, so I guess every Tuesday will be my big "weigh in" day. Let's hope I can make it that long without doing it since I am super anxious to know if this is going to be worth it. Guess we will find out, huh?
Well, I'm not Band Groupie, but I am having trouble keeping up here on LBT, especially my blog. So, I've moved to an old blog I kept while preparing for surgery and now it serves as my Bandster Cookbook.

Please come join me there. I'll still post here now and then, but mostly there.

I guess I am not crazy - passed the psych review - no brainer..... However, the nutrition consult raised some issues.
Had dinner with my wife tonight and put my watch in on the other side of my plate to take a full 30 minutes to eat my meal. This was tough for a person who has always played wolf. Next I plan to get up at 4:00 AM to go to the Gym - maybe that Psych review is wrong. I am going to give my full self to this so that nothing will get in my way. Fact is I have never been on a Blog prior to this but was told it really is a help when you need it. So you have to put up with my ramblings if your going to help me. Maybe some of this will be a help to you as well.:001_tt2:
Hi all! Today was a busy day, but quite productive.
I had my post op appointment this morning. I felt a TON better today and feel like I'm well on the road to recovery. I still didn't understand why my gas was so freaking bad, but other than that, all was well.
I told the nurse about the gas and as we discussed it she got a look on her face. She said that they weren't gas pains that they were spasms in my esophogus. She said that is what happens when your band is too tight. Hmm...interesting. How anybody could ever live with that, I have no idea. She said that if it is to continue that they will take the fluid out that was put in at the beginning until I fully heal. I think that the swelling is going down quickly enough that I won't have to do that. If it continues though, I will fix it. Living with it is not an option!!
She also gave me my diet progression. I can eat most canned foods now..fruits, veggies, tuna, etc. I can also have eggs, refried beans & innards of a baked potato. Soft cheeses are okay too. This diet is for one week. The next week I can add all veggies and all chicken and fish along with a few other things. The following week (after my first fill appointment routine), I go to my full post op diet. YAY!
I still have a lot of swelling so I'm not hungry at all. Not good for the spasms, but since they are lessening now, at least it is a positive by product. For lunch, I had one scrambled egg and I dipped my bites in salsa. For dinner, I had a baked potato with cheese, sour cream, and butter. I only ate about half of it.
So far, I have had absolutely no issues with food going down. I have high hopes that will continue!
I spent my first afternoon at work. I was exhausted after about 3 hours so I was really glad I only did a half day. We will see how tomorrow goes.
Have a great day, fellow bandsters!!
I finally have a date!!
February 30th (March 2nd)
I start my 3 week Opti-crap diet on Monday. It won't be a breeze but if anyone catches me whining about it online, please feel free to lambaste me like I want to do every time I see somebody whine here. A lifetime of health is worth a few weeks of inconvenience or discomfort.
My roommate is going to stick around an extra week so I don't have to bum a ride from anyone else. Hopefully he won't change his mind because I am not cooking for him for the next 3 weeks. He'll have to live on stir-fry and tuna sandwiches.
Hey Everybody,
I thought I would go ahead and post about my progress now. I had hit a plateau at 275 lbs for the last 2-3 months. I was able to eat anything I wanted and I was hungry alot too. With the increased hunger I did pretty much go off of a sensible diet in terms of eating out at fast food restaurants and so on and so forth. I didn't completely lose sight of my goals, but, I wasn't truly as strict as I know I should have been. I was able to maintain not drinking high caloric/sugary drinks so I didn't gain. I went to get a fill last friday and the doctor told me I lost 10 pounds since my last fill in August.
I received my second fill on Friday, January 29th. I am now filled to 5.5 cc's in a 10 cc band. I have "REAL" restriction. I have a really tight fill, but I am gonna hang in there because the very strong hunger pains have gone down significantly and I cannot eat alot. I had no difficulty getting down water in the doctor's office, however, when I got home I think I got swollen because I had a little difficulty getting fluid down. I have noticed that I am tighter in the middle of the night and in the morning. I have since started drinking a lot of fluids, and I'm now making sure I don't get dehydrated because I think that leads to me being tighter. I do still feel hunger, but it's nothing water or a protein shake won't fix. I have actually lost 7-10 lbs since my fill which was less than a week ago, so I'm really happy that I am progressing again. I tend to lose weight very easily if I restrict myself, however, the same is also true about gaining. I can gain a pound a day if I'm not careful. I'm basically still on soft foods, fish, beans, yogurt, applesauce and some chicken. I have to take super small bites now or swallow very small bits at a time, otherwise I experience pain of food being forced through my band. I did have an episode where I had eaten too close to bed and laid down only to wake up in the middle of the night coughing up food. Now I know not too eat right before bed although that has been a long standing habit. Perhaps I'll just drink some warm milk maybe 30 minutes before bed. My doctor told me to follow up in 3 months so I am going to try to hang in there with the amount of restriction that I have. I may ask to have some of the fluid removed from my band on my next visit depending on how I adjust to this one. I have forgone traditional exercise for going out dancing, dance classes, and I bought a basketball so I can shoot hoops. I do need to add more activity during the week days which I plan to do. Anyway, my scale says 265 now, so I have lost about 50lbs since surgery and about 60lbs total from my highest weight 1 1/2 years ago. At this point I am happy with my lap band experience.
When I got my first fill last week (1/27), I was told I could have another fill in two weeks if I still felt I was in the yellow zone (hungry between meals, eating large portions, etc.). They just told me to wait one week to see how I feel first and then I could call and schedule the next fill for the next week. Yesterday, I was crazy hungry all day... may have something to do w/starting back at Jazzercise. So, I called this morning to schedule my second fill (thinking it would probably take them at least another two weeks to get me in). Well, I was very pleasantly surprised that they can do my fill next Wednesday, 2/10 (so exactly 2 weeks after my first). Yay!!!
Its funny, when I tell my friends how I get stuck w/a needle and aren't supposed to eat for 72 hours after, they figure I would want to postpone as long as possible between fills. And, personally, I was a teensy weensy bit tempted to schedule this fill AFTER Valentine's Day since DH and I have reservations for a very nice dinner out. But, above anything else, I just want to get this show on the road. And, ultimately, this will be my life. I can still enjoy our V-Day dinner out, but savoring a small amount of food (maybe just getting an appetizer for my meal) rather than stuffing myself w/a 4 course meal. I am ready!!!
I've been so happy w/what the band has done for me already, but I am eager to get it working to its full potential.
Hi guys,
Just thought I would share this and see if any of you have had a similar experience.
I took a nap last night when I got home from work (I have been trying to fight off a cold). I woke up from my nap frustrated. I had dreamed that I went to my surgeons office and I had gained 11 lbs. 11lbs! So I was talking to the nurses and dietician and begging them for a fill. The nurses were telling me that he didn't have any appointments open before my next appointment. All the while my Dr. went by carrying a box of pizza and then back by carrying a box of donuts. A big box of donuts. He then sat down on a couch in the room behind them and started eating and watching football. Finally they let me talk to him and I talked him into giving me a fill after I had to prove to him that I had been doing 5 miles a day on the treadmill. Yes there was a treadmill in the office. Is that weird or what. Needless to say I had to get up and go way and Shew! no weight gain.
Anyone else had weird or crazy dreams?

So, I have been banded since July 24, 2009 and have only lost 36 lbs:confused:. I do not feel that I am losing like I should. I have noticed inches are gone as well. I walk up to 4 times a week :thumbup:and I just do not know what I am doing wrong. :glare:Uuuuggggg!!!!! At this rate I will not see goal for another 8.5 to 9 month, I am patient but come on...........

Good Morning, burrr Colorado
Well yesterday was a victory and I"m hoping today will be too...
My Starting weight was 223 and this morning im at 219. Sweet. Looking to continue the trend....
Starting off with my warm tea then off to smoothie land. I plan on bringing soup and jello with me to school today. It is going to be a long one. Wish me luck on my Physics exam.. yikes..
I recently hit the 40 pound weight loss bench mark and I noticed a few things.......
1. I am only 10 pounds away from 50 which is half of 100:thumbup:
2. I now have a place to rest my hands when I put them on my hips to "discuss things" with my 5 children. (waistline who knew I had one?)
3. My fat girl jeans now look like they belong to a circus clown...never realized that before. That explains alot of things in my life:tongue_smilie:
4. "EGGBEATERS" really are manna from above.
5. The treadmill is more than just a closet anex.
I never knew this weightloss journey would lead me to so many new realizations. On top of everything, I feel good today better than I have felt in a long long time.

Stopped logging my food, I have done it so many times!! I KNOW what I need to eat! Can't wait to get this band unfilled. Got food stuck last night nausea and vomiting, It was just spaghetti So ready for the sleeve! !!! Weaning off the caffeine (still don't think it matters that much) but I am bound and determined to follow the directions Dr. Aceves gives me. I have no illusions that this is a major step for me. Got my samples!!! will start a list...
Today I have my appt for my first fill. Kinda excited as I am starting to feel hungry some days more than others. I am down 16 lbs since my surgery 12-21. Ready to loose more.
Well I feel great every day now. I feel it's time for my second FILL.:cursing: My doc wanted me to come at the two week point but I felt I could go to three weeks. Well my weight has continued for the past four days to linger at 114.3 to 114.6 kg. Looking forward to getting my second FILL on Saturday. Yes another journey on the bus for four hours up and then back again, all for a 20 minute appointment. But it's worth it. Planning this time to do some shopping with the wife for a few hours and then we will return late, since it's a three day weekend for me, you know got to watch the SuperBowl Game. After I get my FILL I will stay there about 20 to 30 minutes to see if I can drink water comfortably-I like to drink my water. :tt2: I will post how I felt upon my return home. To all LapBand friends, just maintain a positive attitude and you will succeed. I have read about some who have already reached there goal weight and are fabulous looking, unbelievable. To Success!
Well it's 11:05 pm here and what a day!!
But i did manage to stay on track:sneaky:
I think the worst time of the day for me is late afternoon when im over being at school and needing a break.
I had a smoothie for breakfast and some low fat cottage cheese Water through out the day and Soup for dinner. Yay! One day at a time.
Ooh yeah something else happened to me today... Just before i left to go to school I was feeling stressed out like before a panic attack, I could tell i wasn't really breathing. i had the consciousness of it. So I acted and took many deep breaths just breathing deeply and letting go. Then left out the door feeling better. On the way to school I broke out into a hymn.. Sometimes my own voice surprises me. I just belt out words of love and gratitude in a sweet harmony. The song shows me how to live. It was pretty wild actually. Now that I'm thinking about it... Today is Imbolic. A pagan Holiday celebrating mid winter. The term imbolic translates to "in the belly" This is the time we manifest our intentions for the coming year. Holding the vision is important for these next few days. I know i must bring love and attention to this surgery before during and after.... In a pay it forward kinda way...
I pray this is the right thing for me to do and that i have no regrets.
Jade
