Is this normal 7 weeks post op?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys...I am still new to this since being banded near the end of October... I got a fill 2 weeks ago and since then I cant eat in the morning or lunch... I usually can eat by the afternoon although last Friday I was able to eat NOTHING.

Heres my problem... I lost a lot of weight during the liquid phase and it seems to be coming off slower now. I know my body is changing because my clothes are falling off of me.

Is it normal to lose slower. I know I have restriction since I cant eat in the morning and barely at lunch.< /p>

I see all of you who have lost 80 lbs 5 months out... I know I am no where near that.

My mom and friends think I am not eating enough and maybe thats why I am losing so slowly...

I would appreciate any comments...

Tory, there's a fine line when you get to "too tight". You should be able to eat comfortably, just not a lot. You should be able to eat a meal and stay satisfied for about 4 hours or so. Some of us are tight in the mornings but a cup of coffee or hot tea takes care of that.

When I was too tight, I wasn't losing at all. I finally asked for a bit of an unfill. Got .2cc removed (I know, that doesn't seem like much) and I was no longer getting stuck at every meal, could eat comfortably...and I'm still a little tight in the morning but not unpleasantly so. And I've started losing again.

So, evaluate honestly where you are. Are you getting stuck often? PBing? Are you able to eat in a day the minimum of 60 grams of Protein that you need? Can you drink Water comfotably any time of day? Staying hydrated is so very important!!!

I would be very careful comparing your weight loss to that of others. Everyone is very different and you need to stay confident and motivated in your journey. There are people that lose really slow and people that lose really fast. I didn't lose much at all the first six months and then after that the weight started falling off. You are seven weeks post op, so give it some time and listen to your body. Best wishes :)

I had 2 fills and I have pretty good restriction now. I am definitely losing much slower. I just got some restriction in early december. I am very tight in the morning and I don't eat much these days. I would recommend going to thedailyplate.com and putting in everything you eat for at least a week. If you are at 600-700 calories per day it is probably too low. I find I eat more than I think I do though. Greg

Greg,

I think that this is normal course of action for a lot of people. You and I had the same drs office so alot of things you have said - I have been feeling as well. Some days are better than others. Some days I cant anything and others I am ok once I eat in the afternoon and feel satisfied for 6+ hours. I usually know when I am getting hungry - I call it my lower stomach ...lol... that I can hear it growling

Take care everyone thanks for the advice!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
