I am Curious about...........

Recommended Posts

I am curious about your doctors guidelines after surgery.

Mine:

  • Clear liquids for 4 days
  • Full liquids for 10 more days
  • Mushies for 2 full weeks
  • Soft foods for one more week

Very strict in my oppinion but I'd love you to share your doctors rules!

Mine were very similar, Clear Liquids for 11 days, mushie for another 2-3 weeks, then on to the rest of my life food. It is strict but there is a reason for it, don't want to stretch the pouch. Good luck!!

Mine was:

3 days clear liquids

1 week full liquids (cream Soups, sf yogurt, sf pudding)

1 week mushies (eggs, soft cheeses, hummus, cream of wheat/oatmeal, mashed potatoes - no meats, fruits, or veggies)

1 week soft Protein (chicken, pork, seafood, fish - no beef)

1 week soft fruits & veggies

After that, I'm allowed to add in beef and carbs/starches as tolerated.

I think mine's fairly strict as well, but I am following it to the letter. I can't wait to have some meat on Wednesday! It's been 5 weeks!!!!

Time...wonder why you can not blend the meat?

It's my surgeon's opinion that, even blended, meats can be hard on your tummy with regards to digestion.

I didn't mind this past week - the list of what I COULD eat after liquids for four weeks seemed HUGE!

My surgeon and dietician provided me with the following guidelines:

3-5 days after surgery - liquids only (nothing thicker than paint)

1-2 weeks after surgery slowly add - low fat yogurt, Tomato Soup, low fat cream Soups (no chunks), pureed or very soft fruit without skin, oatmeal, cream of wheat

2-6 weeks after surgery - low fat creamy Soups with chunks, fish, chicken (processed), canned meat (tuna, chicken if packed in water), grains, rice, pastas as tolerated, slowly add tougher meats like pork or beef, fruits/vegetables (boiled or soft first). No skins, no seeds.

Now my surgeon told me that I should progress through the stages as my hunger dictates. If I'm feeling hungrier earlier, then I can proceed to the next stage.

Jill is intense and wide eyed isn't she. They are all great.

What is the dudes name that does the camera up the nose deal... he is the one that did my fill. He was better with my sarcasm than the first time... he gets me now LOL. I told him as long as he doesn't come at me again with the scope again our relationship will be just fine from here on out. LOL.

He was suprised I was able to watch him intently without getting ill or squimish. I held the suringe a moment too.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
