can I drink sugar-free cocoa

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery Dec. 1, 2009 and am on stage 2 of the eating regiment (puree). Can I drink sugar free cocoa? Also, any suggestions for puree meals? Thanks!

My nut said to use Swiss Miss sugar free. I drink it all the time.

i dont see why not some nuts say no artificial sweetners but its your personal choice. as far as pureed food you can steam any vegies and smash them with a fork thin them out with a little Water milk or stock if you need too. Beans are a good source of Fiber and Protein. Cottage cheese, yougurt, kiefer, pudding, Jello, I'm sure there are a ton more just these are the ones that come to mind.

There shouldn't be a problem with sugar free cocoa. I can't help with the pureed foods. I only had to be on them for 2 days and I chose to just drink Protein Shakes since nothing pureed appealed to me at all.

I have a SF cocoa in my coffee. It's pretty tasty.

Just mix it up well so you dont have clumps.

Yes to the cocoa, and FF refried Beans with some salsa and cheese was my fav (also loved the greek yogurt, with the beans like sour cream or with some SF preserves).

I have the SF Swiss Miss packets and I just had some! There are no carbs and no sugar, I can't imagine that your doctor would be against you having it. I've TRIED adding chocolate Protein Powder to it, but, I haven't QUITE gotten the tempurature just right yet so that the whey doesn't curdle :willy_nilly:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
