I was banded on July 13, 2009. I am doing good so far but weightloss is slow. I am down 41 lbs and the last 2 weeks I have not lost any weight which is discouraging because I have been so good. I workout 45 minutes to and hour everynight. I am eating just as I should but the weight will not drop. Drink all my Water.

Monday will be 5 months for me, well I guess for all of us. 2½ months after my sugery my Dr put me on Thyriod meds and ever since then my weightloss has slowed, not stopped but slowed. I go back in January and will talk to him about it. I told him about the surgery and that I did not want to pay all this money for surgery and then that med stop me from losing weight. So I will talk to him in Janauary and see. I could be a slow loser because of my age maybe, I am 49.

I have only had 3 fills and I have 3ccs. Since the last fill I have no hunger at all and that has been about a month ago. So I guess I am doing pretty good.

hello,

I was banded july 15 2009 and I also am losing slowly these last two weeks. I have two fills thus far and the last one that is received I think may have been very tight because I had a hard time swallowing . I have lost a total of49 lbs. since my surgery. I think I may need another fill but I am going to wait until after christmas just in case it is too tight again. You know no matter what I am still losing and not gaining that right there is enough to keep me going not to mention all the compliments I receive. You know its weird because I know I have lost weight but when someone tells me I look great I feel so surprised that anyone notices. I hope you are doing well and this I have to say I love this website it has gotten me through some very hard times. When I feek discouraged I come to this site and it helps me so much. good luck to you and talk to you soon.

I had my surgery on July 10, 2009 in Hazard, KY by Bluegrass Bariatrics. I love them! I have done very well, there's only a few things I can't eat and have lost 77 pounds so far. I feel really good most of the time. I think this is the best thing I could have done for myself! The only problems I have had is trying to get my medications regulated. I had high blood pressure and now it runs around 80/50 or lower. It's hard to get the meds adjusted. Other than that my only issue is that I freeze too death! My doctor says its normal and that my body is just missing all that fat "insulation" and it should get better. I hope so, cause I'm cold! BRRRRRR. I did have some Hair loss, quiet a bit of it actually. I am now taking Biotin and using special thickening Shampoo and hair products and it is finally starting to look better. I was concerned about it a little. Everything else has been wonderful. I eat exactly as I'm supossed to, I manage to get my veggies in also and drink my Water. I'm thrilled to be able to go to the shopping mall and do things with my husband and niece. I love it! I'm also glad I can finally go shopping for clothes at little shops! LOL You know the ones that you couldn't shop at before! I can also now cross my legs and sit like a lady! It's unbelieveable!

hey ladies...i was banded on 7/7 and i DEFINATELY need another fill. I've had 2 fills so far and have 6.5cc's in my 14cc band...the past week and a half (minus the days i had the stomach bug...ewww) i've been REAAAALLY hungry and can eat a lot more. Also, i've gone up 3 pouds and just can't drop anything. I always do well for about 2-3 weeks after a fill and then i plateau, but i've heard that this is normal. I'm very much looking forward to my next fill, which is the 28th of this month.

I've lost about 35 since surgery, tons of inches...but i'm definately frustrated by not losing any more YET...i know this fill will fix that (it always does). My hair has FINALLY stopped falling out and a lot has grown back...YAY!!!!!! I've always had great hair so for that to be coming out..i freaked. But it's healthy and getting VERY full again. WOOHOO!

I too am aware that i definately have lost weight...but lots of days i look in the mirror and still see pre-surgery "me"....i know it's in my head, but man it's hard to shake some day. I almost stop believing people when they tell me how good i look...it always makes me feel good but it comes as a shock that they can see it....oh the mind games!

Hello All,

I was banded on 7/16. Currently, I am down 44 lbs and would like to lose an additional 26.

I have experienced ups and downs with my fills. So far I have had 3 fills and right now I am sooo tight it is uncomfortable to eat. I have tried to tough it out but have decided to go in for a slight unfill this week. I try to exercise for at least 30 minutes 3-5 times per week. Once I get this slight unfill I should be much better.... I hope!

I have decided not to tell anyone about the surgery except family and close friends and my co-workers have become quite curious. But I'm not telling....:willy_nilly:

My clothes have become so baggy and now I questioning if I should begin shopping or should I wait. Have you all decided to shop or are you waiting?

I had surgery 7/27/09 and I have lost a total of 47 lbs. I have my second fill on tuesday so hopefully that will once again kick start my weight loss. I too have stalled out over the last 2 maybe 3 weeks. So I need a good swift kick in the butt. I actually forget how many cc's I have I do know it is probably no more than 2 or so. I too can eat just about whatever I want and as much as I want. I am looking for that ability to go away.

I got my Buster on July 24th, here in New Orleans by Dr. Richardson. My starting weight was 313 and I am down to 252, 61 lbs gone. I can't believe how much better I feel, cuz I didnt feel bad to start with, or so I thought! lol

I am losing well, but I'm not the best band patient in the world, lol! I still eat some goodies, though not even CLOSE to what I did. bread and Pasta are my biggest problem children, but not much else is. I don't excercise as much as I should, but I always am walking, with a purpose. My kids yell about how fast I walk all the time! I have 6.5 cc in my Realize band.

This is the best thing I have done for myself, ever. Right now my biggest struggle is "seeing" that I have lost the weight, in my eyes and head I am still 313 lbs.

Banded 07/09/09. I feel pretty good about my weightloss so far. I have living with a pretty tight band since September, but it seems a little looser the last 2 weeks. The weight has been dropping with very little effort on my part so far. As I creep closer to goal, I think I will have to put more effort toward it. I have not really done much exercise, so plan to do better with that. I had an issue with thinning hair, but it is growing back in now.

Hello...

I am so excited about my new body. I have lost 62 lbs and I am 8 lbs away from my goal. I am actually deciding now if I will change that goal. Most likely I will...

I had to learn when to stop eating to avoid getting sick. That was difficult at first but I now know when to stop! I have felt consistent restriction since December so I'm happy to be a my "sweet spot." However, my weight fluctuates from week to week. Overall, I am extremely happy with my progress & I'm determined to be at my 170 lb goal by next month!

The first picture I was at 240 lbs and the 2nd is at my current weight of 178.

Good luck everyone!!! We are 4 months away from our 1 year anniversary....:wink2:

I was banded on July 6, 2009, and so far I'm down 35 pounds with 9ccs in a 10cc band. It hasn't been easy - it took six months to get to restriction and I wasn't really putting in much work on my end so I didn't lose much. I was enjoying being able to eat whatever I wanted without gaining weight for the first time in my life! That also meant losing sight of my weight loss goal. But since the beginning of the new year, I've been much better and am finally losing. I'm sure I'd be doing even better if I got off my butt to exercise more though!

It's all a journey... :wink2:

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
