Keey your fingers crossed for me, please

Recommended Posts

I go in Monday morning to see if my surgeon will be able to manually flip my port enough that I can get my third fill. I'm so hoping he will be able to! He said if he's not able, then we'll have to schedule surgery to reposition the port and I so don't want to have to do that. Keep your fingers, toes, heck, if it would help, even cross your eyes for me! :cross-eye

:cross-eye Okay, everythings crossed, even my eyes, hope it helps!!!

I know you are really nervous, but the worst case scenerio is minor surgery to flip the port back. I wouldn't imagine it would be all that big of a deal, although I certainly understand you're not wanting to have to go that route.

I will say some prayers that it's going to go the easy way and that you get your third fill. My goodness, you're really gonna drop weight with that, I bet you are so excited about that! You have done an absolutely phenomenal job so far and you are such an inspiration to all of us here on the board.

Good Luck and God Bless

Cindy

Good luck! I'd like to ask you a question, If you don't feel comfortable answering it, I'll understand. Did your port flip due to the amount of weight you have lost? My Dr. told me that this can sometimes happen when you lose a great amount of weight.

Anyway, you should be so proud of yourself, what a great job you have done. You have me so excited about getting the band. I wish and I hope I'll have great results from the band, just as you have.

K.....I don't know exactly why my port flipped. I have lost quite a bit and really fast but I don't know if that could have contributed to it. When I went in 2 weeks ago and found that my port had flipped, I didn't get to see my surgeon but I will on Monday and hopefully he'll have some answers for me. My first two fills were difficult because my port was tilted but when I went in for #3 the PA just couldn't do it. I'm just hoping Dr. Jay will be able to. I'll let you know what he says about the flipping.

Hey Becky,

You and I met on surgery day. We have the same band birthday. You have done great with your weightloss! I hope they can flip your port back to the proper position. Both Larry and my ports have flipped to the side and they just press down on one side and then they can do the fill. Could they try that for you? I hope you don't have to get another surgery. I'll say a prayer for you.

I was able to get my fill and no surgery....YEA! I met my doctor this morning and he was able to do the fill with having to surgically flip the port. I was sure hoping he'd be able to and he was. He had me stand up instead of lay down for the fill. He said it would be easier to do it and it worked. I'm so relieved that he was able to. Thank you all for the good wishes and I can never say this enough...you guys are the best!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
