Well, after my last fill 11/10 I decided it was time to get more agressive and stop the cycle of fills every 8 wks. I went in today (4 wks since last fill) and told the Dr. that we're going to try this MY way and that I wanted a fill. I actually thought that we'd schedule it today as the past 2 fills have been done via flouroscopy (sp?) anyway, he gave me a fill today - I figured 2 or 3 ml would do the trick.

Well he gave me 6.6ml :scared2: today and YES, I'm feeling restriction. I can drink just fine and will see how this goes. I only hope this doesn't turn into be careful what you ask for:ohmy:.

I hope you are going to be comfortable at the fill level you are at now. My fills are done in a different unit of measure which is cc's so I'm not really certain just how different this is from ml's. I hope you now see fantastic results though.

1mL=1cc, or close enough to it not to be worth worrying about the difference. Metric is simple that way, but it's based on pure Water at 4C, not saline.

there's no difference in cc and ml - doctors and pharmacists tend to use the term ml.

So now that I am clear on the conversion, Wow! You really got a large fill. As long as you can eat and drink with your current restriction you should do really well.

Did he say why he gave so much? Seems a bit of an overkill unless that what his point because you 'dared' tell him you wanted a fill. Hopefully that's not the case.

Congrats on getting your fill though.

That is one hell of a fill ! It also seems a really large total fill amount that you have. It also doesn't leave much room to play for future adjustments.I hope you can cope without problems.

Hope this helps you. I don't know much about how much is too much as I've only been banded one day, but if it works for ya great.

That is a huge amount so I am happy you can drink, etc. I applaud you for being your own advocate, but I will be watching for your posts in hopes that he didn't overfill you in retaliation.

Best of luck,

Mimi

so are you saying you are at 12.8 total? I assume a 14cc band. Are you salivating a lot just being on liquids.... we just had a too tight thread going (and both of us went for an unfill) me today the other poster is going tomorrow. Be careful about coughing at night and choking on your saliva. Keep us posted.

Nope, no problems at all. For the first time, I'm actually full after my meals and haven't had an episode of being stuck, coughing, slimming...

i've been thinking about asking for a bigger fill this time around..i go for my third fill on 12/28 and i REALLY need one now..i can eat more now than before surgery. I had good restriction until about 2 weeks ago...now I am getting really hungry and have gained 3 pounds...well i go up and down the same 3-4 pounds  Same with my last fill. I was good for about 3 weeks and then i just stayed the same...it's time to get this band working for me!

Thanks for the post....i've decided to ask for a little more of a fill this time. He's really good about it though...he goes by how you have been feeling and eating...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
