Hello!

I'm new and just had my 5th appointment. My final appointment is scheduled with the surgeon near the end of January and the surgery will be scheduled then. I have to wait until closer to tax time to have it so my income tax refund will pay for my portion. Of course, that's assuming my insurance agrees to cover the rest! While my BMI is only a smidge over 35, I have ALL of the co-morbidities, so my doctor isn't concerned about the insurance.

I'm not nervous yet. I'm sure that will come as the time gets closer.

The funny thing is, as much as I love food, I'm looking forward to freeing myself from what has become an all consuming love affair. :)

I'm just hoping I maintain that attitude when reality sets in and the "food divorce papers" are there to be signed!! B)

Hello, "plain" :w00t:)

I'm not real worried about my insurance. I think that will be okay. I'm just hoping that I'm not going to be one of those that has problems with the band not working for them.

I'm trying to be positive, but the last few years have been pretty rough and I'm still struggling with all the aftermath. Even though it's been difficult, I still keep putting one foot in front of the other so that I am moving forward.

But some days....well...forward progress can be very hard to maintain. :rolleyes2:

Welcome spence. I too am looking to sign those food divorce papers. It has become consuming for me and I don't want to be thinking about food all the time.Good luck to you.

Thank you, Jewei.

I'm hoping I can come here when I need support. I'm not sure I'm going to get much at home. I'm very glad that I found this website. Things are always easier when you have other people to talk to that know what you are going through.

I don't have much support here either. So I think I am just gonna keep it private for awhile. Not everyone is understanding but there is a ton of support on this site.:rolleyes2:

Hi Spence

I thought the same thing, but after my surgery I had the usual swelling restriction where I would feel full after half a Protein shake. It didn't take long after healing to enter bandster hell though. There were a few weeks when I could (and did) eat anything.

Today I have had my first fill and since getting home I have had a tiny yoghurt and a can of Soup. This was several hours ago and I still feel full. I wouldn't have believed it either. I know this might be short lived until I hit my sweet spot, but my point is that although I love bad food ... pizza, fries, bacon sandwiches .... right now, after just a yoghurt and a can of Soup, the thought of ANY food just doesn't appeal whereas before I would be struggling not to grill some bacon.

Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
