Good question Pat!!!! I am coloring my hair lighter and standing up straighter. I am wearing bolder jewelry and accepting compliments with a simple "Thank you". Now how about you?

Well Mimi,

You have lost ALOT, I am only down 20 plus pounds. But I am tempted to try some new hair styles.. Also I have my eye on some more updated and stylish outfits with some color. I have a closet full of black (which I usually just accessorize with jewlery or scarfs).. how about something bold and daring this time..

I did just get my nails done and had them painted red.. (my mother used to say beware of women who wear red nail polish) HA. I have no idea why.. but now I think I will show her my new manicure..

I cut my hair shorter than it's ever been in my life and it's blonder.

I actually wore shorts this past summer instead of capris and more tank tops.

Can't wait to see what next summer brings for me! I think I may start to wear skirts! Short skirts!

I was banded 1/19/07-First, I let my hair grow out longer, then cut in a bob and I put gold highlights in it. Then, I cut it short and got rid of the highlights and went with a solid light brown. Now I want some highlights back. I now have two tattoo's. One blue butterfly on right upper arm and one blue butterfly on right upper back/shoulder. Butterfly was symbol of change and each tatoo equals 50 pounds lost. I am wearing brighter colors and clothes that are more fitted. Also, my shoe size has gone down from 9.5/10 to 8.5 & i am wearing higher heels and more noticeable shoes (strappy sandals in summer etc.). Also, have more of a desire to "date". Have not dated in forever. Just went out on a first date last week. Ended up seeing him twice within 5 days. So far so good.

I'm finally wearing more youthful clothes. I'm sorry but the crap at Lane Bryant and those other fat people stores are so matronly. I was so relieved to start wearing something different. I'm getting daring with my under garments at Victoria's Secret...... black lace and all!!! I'm finally able to wear my hair shorter and more trendy. I'm trying new things as well.... Like kayaking and hiking. It's so much easier to enjoy the outdoors when you don't hurt all over from exersion. I'm also wearing heels again. Haven't worn them since my 20s. I've noticed that the new friends I make are younger. Went to a stage production of Arabian Nights last week with a new 29 year old friend. She claims she doesn't even notice my age!! I'm old enough to be her mother.

great idea for a thread!

i cut my very long hair short, above my shoulders, and donated it to locks of love. i had always wanted to do it and finally found the courage after losing weight! i donated 11 inches of hair and ended up cutting another 2 1/2 off with the style! amazing feeling.

i want to buy different clothes...more trendy and cute. not hiding behind big hoodies as much. this one i havent completely accomplished because i need a Tummy Tuck to be able to buy smaller pants and shirts to fit correctly, lol. but the dream is much closer to being realized.

i dont walk everywhere with my head down, staring at the ground!

I stopped shoping in the mens department and started wearing more fitting clothes. Still love my hoodies though. Some habits are hard to break.

WOW! Our stories are almost identical. I have a tattoo of a butterfly on the top of my left foot. I picked a butterfly b/c it represents a metamorphosis and I put it on my left foot so I can look at it when I CROSS MY LEGS:)

I went to Fashion Bug the other day and bought a new outfit for my work Christmas party. I bought a short skirt (right below the knee) - I haven't worn a shorter skirt since high school. A tight fitting shirt and high heels. They are candies brand that I bought at Kohls. They havve vey high heels on them and i'm excited to wear them!

I find everytime I am 'relaxed' with myself, thinking I look "ok" , or listening to people saying I'm OK the way I am, I automatically start putting on weight. My weight is a lifetime effort. I can't be complacent. Biggest change? Giving up the smokes, then gaining heaps of weight, while being prepared for that...so nice breath, no nicotine fingers, and being aware that I have probably done the best thing in terms of health. Wanna get into my skinny jeans again... get some hair extensions (Yep, like it's going to happen lol.).

I still have the old style because that is just who I am, what has changed? I do use more color and my hair is longer.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
