Newbie from Phoenix with questions

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone!

I am new to this site. I have Aetna insurance and had to follow a 3 month plan for approval. I've done everything they required and my doctor's office (True Results) submitted the paperwork on 11/17/09. My surgery is tentatively scheduled for 12/17/09.

My questions are:

- Has anyone had experience with True Results / Dr. Nirmul?

- Has anyone had any issues with Aetna not approving the surgery after their requirements have been met?

- What should I expect the first week to 10 days after surgery?

Thanks for any feedback... have a good weekend!

P

well hi there and welcome. This is a wonderful site to be on. You can use the search feature to find threads relating to your doctor and to your after care.

There is a wealth of information already on here, READY, SET, READ!

If not for this site I am sure I would not have had the success I am so proud of thus far.

Again welcome and explore. Lana

Dr. Nirmul placed my band on June 18 of this year. I've written about my experiences with True Results a few times on my blog, if you want to check that out (sorry, don't have time to type it all out right now!)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
