My 14 day pe-op diet starts the day after Thanksgiving. My doctor recommends having a protien shake for Breakfast and lunch then a small low/no carb regular dinner. He recommends this diet plan to all of his patients to not only reduce the size of the liver but the stomach as well.

Good Luck!

My surgery is scheduled for January 13. My doctor requires me to be on a 10 day liquid diet, but it doesn't have to be CLEAR liquid - thank God!! I'm so very excited that it doesn't have to be clear!! I researched a lot of Proteins and settled on one made by GNC. It's called "Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60".. evidently the proteins are easier for your stomach to digest and there is no lactose in it to upset your stomach. I'm gearing up gathering things I will need.

Im so confused. My doctors office is closed. He has had me on lowfat hipro veg diet for 10 days. I thought I was supposed to start liquids today for surgery on Monday but I wasn't sure if it was Clear Liquids or not. Now I can't find ANY instrux except for the page that tells me about the lowfat hipro veg diet. I'm confused and hungry and not sure what to eat or drink at this point

there should be an on call number electralady - i'd have them track the surgeon down.

if you don't want to do that I would go with the clear liquids

I just started the clear like you suggested...better safe than sorry. But I am NOT happy about it! This sucks, ya'll! I have tried to talk myself into quitting so many times today. Please tell me the first day is the worst.

Don't quit Electralady! I'm on day 3 and it gets a little easier each day. Today I made some sugar free Jello and put it in little dessert cups and ate it with my baby spoon. Not exactly a fantasy dessert, but, something different than Protein shakes! Good luck! I'm jealous, your surgery is Monday! (P.S. if you can get to the store, try Progresso low sodium chicken broth. It's not bad and WAY better than Swanson!)

I dont think I even get the Protein shakes...but I got to eat real food longer than most so it's an ok tradeoff  Been eating Jello and popsicles. I made chicken Soup for the family and ate the broth from that. I also have some of the broth cubes in beef and chicken. I read somewhere that consumme is okay but I have no idea what that is. I am sure it is in the broth family. I'm gonna go google it. Thanks for the support. I need it!

Omg! Am I making this harder than it really is? I dnt know if Im going 2 b full off these liquids until my surgery on the 24th. How much do I buy, what do I buy? please help me

I started liquids on Monday and was ill for three days. What a shock! I didn't think I could make it two weeks but suddenly I found my grove and I've felt fine since. I was so relieved!

I think the secret is to keep sipping liquids in between "meals." Now, I feel fine other than (whispers) Constipation.< /p>

I need to figure that one out.

No wonder they make us do this two weeks before surgury. I would hate to be in recovery while adjusting to liquid diet at the same time!

I would have to say the second day is the worst! I'm on day six but after three days I've felt great, though!

I am day four of a fourteen day liquid diet. The doc has me on meditrim only in chocolate flavor. I also can have 2 cups of vegetables through out the day.. I can switch up one of the shakes for a Protein bar from meditrim.. It is ok.. I have kind of cheated I guess cause I have had a popsicle and last night had a cup of chicken noodle Soup broth. No noodles just broth... I am definatley losing on this, but also have headaches, and no energy.. Which is not good with six kids.. But as of tonight only 10 days left... Yeah then I can go onto those other liquids and not feel like I have cheated..

I know it will get better just have to get through this... My hubby is being supportive and went out to get a shake for his breaky and lunch.. I love my hubby...

thanks so much

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
