I am still not sure I understand what PB-ing is...sorry to be so slow. Can someone explain it to me in detail? Why do you call it PBing? Along the same lines, aren't you guys scared that you might get the flu and have to throw up and the throw up won't be able to make it back out very quickly? I probably get the flu or a bout of food poisioning (no thanks to my mother-in-law's cooking) and have to throw up at least once or twice a year. What happens...do you just not throw up, or do you half throw up and half dry heave...sorry that sounds nasty.

PB is when you burp and burp and burp and eventually vomit. I've done it twice since my fill on wed. It sucks, but let me tell you it teaches you REAL fast to slow down and take smaller bites and CHEW CHEW CHEW. I got out of the habit because i wasn't tight, but i learned my lesson.

I vomited once...everything came up just fine, thanks...it was gross, like vomiting is. I had taken some liquid pain meds and it made me nauseus, which is why I vomited.

A PB is very different. It's getting up and out something in the upper pouch that is stuck. It's immediate relief from something very uncomfortable. Hard to explain but it's definately not a vomit.

Another thought, if you chew your food well enough to pass through the band, it gets to your lower stomach, you have food poisoning and it comes back up, it's just well-chewed and liquified with stomach acid food. Gross, and not good for your band, but it does come up if needed. That stomach muscle is pretty strong.

The best way I can describe Pbing is simply as a regurgitation. I don't burp before hand...its just like there is something there that just has to go and simply what you have just put down will come back exactly as it went down. No gastric juices but just as it was..only for me, normally with lots of saliva.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
