How do you afford Plastic surgery???

Recommended Posts

I was approved for Care Credit and also Capitol One health care account. We choose the Capitol one as they were running a very low interest rate deal last year when I applied.

May I ask what procedures you had done and how much it cost?

May I ask what procedures you had done and how much it cost?

$17,000

In had an extended Tummy Tuck with a anchor cut, mons lift, breast lift and silicone implants.

The price included the implants, the Surgery, all OR fees, and surgery center fees, the anestesthiologist, 2 nights in a healing facility with round the clock nursing care. All garments all follow up Pre and post op visits to my Dr. it did not include pre-op testing, or prescriptions, BUT my insurance covered all of these with only a co-pay out of my pocket.

I ended up having a wound seperation issue with the tummy tuck, (i'm diabetic and this is more common then most know) Anyways my Ps came to the hotel to see me every day after work, then I went to his office every week for another months then every 2 weeks for another months after that. He would give me some of the creams and guaze that would be needed by us to take care of the issue. I ended up having to have a revision, he did that for free, and all follow up care also. I only had to pay a very small fee to the OR and Anastesthiologist for the revision this past May.

I'm getting the panni first... I have maxed my flex spending account out for 2010 at 5k and expect insurance to pick up most of the cost. This works out good for me because my credit is not great and financing it may be a pill.

I tried to get my insurance company to approve the "panniculectomy" - they flat out refused citing cosmetic surgery as the justification so I walk around looking terrific until you look at me from the waist down! I am disgusted and don't have good credit so I guess I will have to live with walking around with this humongous flap of skin hanging off my body. I appealed too. Still, no way. They just won't approve it under any circumstances and I documented everything, slightly ruptured disk in my back, rashes, odor, itching and burning; paid $175 to have professional photos taken of my stomach - they won't do it. United Health Care sucks.

My cost will be $16,400.

I'm having breast lift, inplants (silicone, which are about $1000 more than saline), extended Tummy Tuck and Lipo of the back and upper/lower belly area and around to the back. Fat transfer to my bootie.

We are going to use our tax refund to pay for it. we usually get about 12,000 or more back because we withold much more than we have to.

the rest we will either pay out right or finance for a short time with no interest (hopefully).

I probably shouldn't admit this.. but I will. I went to the dermatologist last week and told her that I'd been having rashes in the skin folds, but I didn't have one right then. It takes 6 months to get in to see her, so it's unlikely I would ever have a visit with her when socalled rash was present. She documented the rash and gave me 2 prescriptions for it. I'm having the prescriptions filled today.

The bad part of the story - I've never had the rash, but now I have full documentation to support me if I want to have a Tummy Tuck later. Am I going to go to hell for lying???

hahahahahhahaha! My friend did the same thing!

I need information related to the measurement or intake of food. I used to use the medicine cups but that is annoying. I have recently experienced some "frothing" which is disgusting. I also notice some difficulty in getting food down and the feeling of being "stuck" so my question is: How much food do I eat but more importantly, how do you guys measure your food so that you don't go over an acceptable amount which would create discomfort. Help!

I have a measuring cup. I try to eat no more than a cup of food at a time. 4oz of meat and 1/2 cup of veggies.

If you're having feelings of stuck--you need to go to the doctor---you may be too tight

I have UHC too, but as my PS said, make it UGLY take naked pictures, document your bad rashing and back problems. They have to know this is NOT cosmetic but reconstructive surger... Insurance company's really do suck! They have no problem taking your money, but when you need their assistance they get stoopid! grr!

Hey at least you had insurance that would cover the lap banding. My current insurance will not cover ANY form of weigh loss. None, Nada, Zip, Zero, Zilch!

As of January 1st we will be getting BC/BS PPO and of course it will be my luck that in January they will not cover it anymore.. (They are still doing it but my luck they will look at me and go NOPE...sorry I always look on the pessimestic side of things)

My sis in law had her stomach stapled and then all the ''cosmetic'' surgeries after the fact (surgery for the bat wings, the tummy flap, and if im not mistaken she even had Lipo done and her insurance paid for ALL of those surgeries!

IDK what insurance she had but man sign me up!

I have crap credit too, dont feel like the lone ranger so I will be doing some serious saving and we are also in a credit recovery program.

Our new mantra is ''If you cant pay cash for it you dont need it!"

Hey there! I had a extended Tummy Tuck, breast lift with silicone implants, Lipo of the thighs, tummy, flank and back last month. Cost $18,950 . I was also a self pay lapbander $18.500. I am getting a thigh lift next month cost $6,400. For me my health and happiness is just as important as anything else I could or ever want or need. We did save and save for this but put it on a low interest credit card with reward points. I look at it this way, I will ALWAYS owe somebody something, either a mortgage, car payment, house tax bill something. At least with this I have added YEARS on to my life, I have added HAPPPPPPYYYY YEARS to my life. I am lucky to be financially well set so my "costs" will be paid off in no time but even if this was not the case I would do it again. You have one life to live, anything can happen. For me living my life today to the fullest, being the best that I can be, not settling for less than what makes me happy, which in turn makes my kids and hubby happier is what life is about. So I don't buy a brand new car next year.. ok.. that brand new car might last me 10 years.. this new body will last me the rest of my life YEEE HAAWWWW! Good luck and God Bless!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
