1st fill- What should i expect

Recommended Posts

Today i had my first. I have a 10cc band and only got 1cc fill. Just wondering is that normal? :D I've was thinking i would get more.

What now should i look for? I am on liqiuds for 24 hrs and then back to soft foods. Will i be able to really tell if i've had enough to eat? :) What kinds of things are best to eat right after a fill? Is there anything i really need to stay away from? Any advise please will help.

I too had my 1st fill today; 3cc's. Not sure how big my band is though.

As to what kinds of things are best to eat right after a fill? All liquids. broth, Decaf tea, Protein shakes first and foremost, sugar-free Jello, crystal light, Water at least for the first two days. Then the two days after that pureed foods like baby food, sugar free pudding, Protein shakes, applesauce, pureed squash. Then two days after that slowly putting in soft foods.

I think i was more scared about the fill then i was the surgery. lol It was not bad at all. My dr numbed the area first and that's the only thing i felt except for the pressure of him finding the port.

My dr layed me on the table with a pillow behind my back. Cleaned the area, numbed it then had me to act as if i were doing cruntches. It took maybe 5 minutes if that long.

Good luck.

Im so scared to get a fill, how was it? Did it hurt?

I have a very low-threshold for pain and I have to say that the fill hurt but it pinched just like giving blood. Wasn't so bad.

I had it under Flouro so after he stuck me i had to hold the syringe while they read the image. it hurt no more than getting any kind of shot. The needle is very thin.

How far post surgery are you? I've read a lot of different things on here in this past year, but for the program I went through they explained ahead of time they would do your first fill while watching you in the fluoroscope so they could judge how much to put in. Did they do this with you or did they just decide on 1 cc and go with it? On my 2nd fill, they had me drink Water to make sure that went down ok.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
