less restriction after fill

Recommended Posts

I know this sounds kinda crazy but i had a fill two weeks ago because i was finding my self looking for food between meals i had pretty good rectriction before this fill i had to be very carefull to eat slowly or i would get pain. I had a .25 fill two weeks ago and now it seems like i have hardly any restriction. Is this possiable? Or maybe i just didn't get enough and it didn't make a difference. Is it possiable that when me gave me my fill when he took all the Fluid out of my band and then put it back in plus the fill that band isn't as tight. Has anyone had this happen? I have a appointment in two weeks i am going to ask him and get another fill.

I learn something new about the band all the time! When I went for my last fill my Dr told me that now that we we're getting really close to good restriction she wasn't going to take all the Fluid out before adding saline as she did every fill in the past. She explained that each time you take out and refill the stoma shape will change..in other words the way the stomach gathers inside the band can change each time you unfill and then refill. So basically you can unfill and fill again with the exact same amount and feel a different restriction. It makes sense but I had never heard or read anything about this until my Dr explained it to me recently.

That makes alot of sinse i thought i was going crazy. I am going to ask my doctor about this at my next appointment. It is amazing how much some doctors know and some don't about the band.

This happens to me ALL the time! I finally convinced the doctor to quit taking any Fluid out and just adding some, he started doing that the last two fills and I'm finally getting some good restriciton again.

Yesterday my PA drew back and reinjected my Fluid 3 times. It really made me swell up and I PB'd my Protein Shake out the car door!!!! I wish they wouldn't manipulate the fluid, yet they have to withdraw some to make sure they are in the right place!!!! Oh, well, the swelling went down pretty fast this time.

I posted a thread about this exact issue a while back.

In Australia they no longer believe in drawing the Fluid out when they do a fill as it affects the pressure and can cause problems. They now just do topups unless they have a reason to suspect the band is leaking.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
