why would sweet spot matter?

Im 7 weeks out of surgery. Ive lost 70 lbs with pre and post op diet. I stopped losing about 3 weeks ago and Im getting frustrated. Im not at my sweet spot yet but why should that matter if Im only eating 1300 calories a day and walking 1 and1/2 miles everyday. And I weigh 400 lbs so 1 1/2 miles for me is alot. I just dont get it. Maybe the 900 calorie 3 week liquid pre op diet really screwed up my metabolism. I mean wow at 400 lbs and the life style change ya think the weight would be falling off . Im really freaking out.I just want to cry.

You've lost 70lbs - the weight is falling off. There will be times when you lose lots and others when you don't lose for a while. It's perfectly normal. Just keep doing what you are doing and relax.

Your body is trying to adjust. It will start dropping off again. You are doing great! Keep up the good work!

You may find that your sweet spot happens quicker than others, but will loosen up after more weight loss and you have to get a fill and find it again. Believe me, the weight loss will start again.

Are you drinking your Water? make sure you are getting at least 64 oz a day. You are probably at a plateau and your body takes time to adjust. You'll notice pounds falling off overnight once your body catches up and thinks, Oh yeah, look at all these thousands of calories I've burned! Time to show it in the weight! Usually in a month I lose on average 10 pounds, but those 10 pounds come off in about 2 weeks, the other two weeks I'll be on a plateau, it's just the way my body functions. You'll start to see a pattern too, but it does take time and I know it's frustrating. Just hang in there, you are doing so awesome! Be proud of your accomplishment so far and in the meantime, think of all the non-scale victories you have accomplished too.

Wow! You're doing great. Don't be discouraged. The weight will come off if you continue to do what your doctor said. It might slow down but it will pick up again. Just hang in there. You're not alone. This is a slower journey than the gastric but safer and more long lasting. You shouldn't be losing more than 1-2 lbs a week anyway.

I know how you feel. I am 6 1/2 months post-op and have already experienced 2 months of no weight loss.

What others are saying about your body adjusting itself is absolutely correct. I have twice now hit plateaus that lasted well over a month each.

Be sure you take your body measurements because during these plateaus it is important that you realize you are losing inches. It does take the scale some time to catch up with the measurement losses.

Hang in there and be patient. You didn't get to 400 pounds overnight and it's not going to fall off overnight.

I do suggest, you increase your exercise time each week in order to keep seeing results and fluctuate your calorie intake by 100-200 calories periodically.

You are doing great. I was banded 08/13/09 and I have lost 66 lbs between pre and post surgery. I too went for about 3 weeks with no loss and was so frustrated, but then in about 5 days time, I lost 12 pounds. It is crazy how it works, and it has now happened twice since then. I am thinking that I am going to do that pretty consistently. During the first 3 week period of no loss, I dropped a pant size though. So, definately start taking measurements. Maybe you are building muscle, which weighs more than fat, and it helps you burn fat faster, so it is a good thing.

thanks everyone. I gained a pound today:( but I was expecting it. My doc took me off half my blood pressure meds and it had a Water pill in it so I think I gained some water. It still pisses ya off though

      On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
      Soooo I am coming to a realization
      of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

        Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

        Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

        I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

        I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

        BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
