Possible pouch stretch

Recommended Posts

Hi I was wondering if it is possible to re tighten the pouch should it stretch out inbetween fills? I would like to know. I ahve been banded since Sept 2007 and I have done real well, watching what I eat and through tons of exercise and walking I mastered about a 93 pound weightlos in the first 10 months of surgery and well now I am just plain stuck. I ahve lost inches and look good but I ahve only lost 8 pounds since May 2008 before I had my gallbladder removed I was weighed and my weight just goes up and down the scale sort to speak. I am maintaining 180 pounds. I am going to have my large veins removed from my legs soon and I asked the nurse at that clinic how much I weighed in at beofre that gallbladder surgery and i was just thrown back in horror. This is not the actual bariatric clinic that did my surgery it is another clinic of there for general surgeries. I ahve told my surgeon and his staff for months on end about not losing the weigh and well after 17 months something seems wrong. I ahve been filled and un filled and then re filled. I ahve a 10 cc band now with under 5cc's in it and I am tired of the expense it is causing me now and everything else and I am wondering if the pouch could be stretched. I ahd an upper GI about a month ago and i was told other than it being too tight the band looks good, now how do they really know? can someone send me an e-mail about this. my address is sharrroc@aol.com I really need some advice here. Thanks:confused:

People swear by the five day pouch test. You can Google it or search for on LBT. From all the positive reviews I've read here, that would be the first thing I would try if I thought I had a stretched pouch.

I was going to suggest the five day pouch test also. It's kind of hard to do but it really does help get the pouch shrunken. You can probably find it on this website somewhere. I have a posting floating around and a lot of people joined me, which was really helpful. You can also do a google search and get to the webiste telling you exactly how to do it. Just one word of caution: you will get your pouch shrunken but it will stretch out amazingly fast again...so be careful after the 5 day pouch test. Good luck.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
