From my first doctors appt. to surgery was 1 1/2 months, I think 2 1/2 wks of that was waiting on insurance approval and getting all my tests done. I have UHC and was very pleased with their quick response.

How long did you guys have to wait for an approval?

I also went through True Results in Richardson and have BCBS of IL, and once my info was submitted to them for approval, it only took 1 week to get the approval.

I had my surgery on 10/7 and everything has gone smoothly.

I had my first fill at the TR aftercare last Wednesday, and it didn't hurt at all. It only took about 30 minutes from the time I arrived at the office, until I was walking out to my car.

Good Luck to you, and keep us posted on your journey!

It took abou 2 weeks for me to get approved from the time I went to the seminar to hearing from insurance. I'm getting banded on the 25th, the surgeon who is doing mine was booked till then. Other wise I could have been done over a month and a half ago, the waiting on the surgery has sucked as well. :w00t:

Good luck again, we're all waiting to hear good news. :wink2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
