Help from new bands, please

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on July 14th. so it has been 3 1/2 mo. I have only lost 15 lbs. My calorie count if staying from 150, right after a fill to 800-900 before a fill.

Anyone else going slow. I'm so discouraged and frustrated. Anyone have advice??

I've only lost about 30 since I started my pre-op diet. No advice without further information, but I wanted to let you know that you're not alone when it comes to slow loss. Hang in there.

I had my surgery on September 1st and so far have lost a little over 30 pounds (pre surgery diet included). I'm finding that with every little bit I lose I can move more freely - are you finding that yet? I think a big part of the weight loss is from being able to be more active - what you eat and the caloric intake is just part of the equation.

Also - a friend of mine who had gastric bypass was putting back on a lot of weight and her doctor told her to cut out the liquid calories - ie. coffee drinks. It sounds like you're very conscientious about your caloric intake but in case this is something you've overlooked, worth cutting out or cutting back on.

And one last note of encouragement - if it comes off a bit slower it will stay off longer, right?

Jill:

Sounds like you're not getting in enough calories. Try shooting for about 1200 calories a day and get some exercise in. You may see a melting effect .

Best wishes to you. I love my band and my new flat tummy!

Sue

Thanks-- I think you're right about getting moving. I need to plan for exercise time. That may be the key.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
