Hello Bec,

I just joined recently (today). I was banded on 10/15 and I am also working towards a baby. My husband and I tried In Utran Insemination 3 times and it did not work. My fertility Dr. did not set a specific BMI goal but said losing weight would really help so...I got banded. I was told I could not get pregnant for one year after being banded so my goal is to make the most of this year so I can start trying for a baby again. Good luck!

Welcome back Bec and welcome Brooke! Congrats on trying to have a little one! I have 3 girls who are nearly grown. They grow up way too fast. Enjoy this time with DH. Soon you'll be preg. I know of another bandster with a similar story and she did get preg after losing the weight. Best wishes to both of you!

Thanks everyone.

Brookelynn the specialist has told me that I can go back to him when I am 116kg or 255lbs but I have decided that I need to be at least 98kg or 215lbs, that is something I need to do to give myself the best possible chance. DH and I have been trying for 12yrs and I hjave to do all I can.

Good luck with everything and I look forward to chatting with you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
