There are a whole lot of people on this board who have cheated on their post op diet. Now that said it doesnt make it ok. You knew what you were signing up for so be strong and keep the liquids coming.

I was banded 4 days ago. I haven't had any physical hunger, but bit of "head" hunger. What has helped me is knowing what my triggers are and then having a plan to occupy myself when it happens. Hang in there. You can make it. Also, your Protein supplement will help with the hunger as well. SIP, SIP, SIP!!!!!!!!!!

Hang in there neesh! Eating real food too soon can interfere with your band healing in properly. Like 20zmom said, Protein shakes help with the hunger. You can do it!

Stay strong.. You can get through this. I suggest maybe blending a Protein Shake in the blender with a half of bananna. or maybe a cup of unsweet applesauce. I know other's will probably say no, but when your mind is made up that you are hungry and you want to eat, that is what you are going to do, so, whatever it is make sure that is very soft, so that you will not upset your band. Good Luck, an just remember the reason why you was banded in the first place.

Hi Neesh! I was banded the same day as you and I too am finding myself very hungry. It is crazy how some people are not hungry at all then on the flip side there are people like us.

Are you still on Clear Liquids? I am on full liquids moving to mushies tomorrow and man am I ready. I have been "eating" cream chicken Soup my Protein. Every doctor is different..

I also do everyday as cb0828 says..I take my protein podwer and mix it up as usual...dump it in a blender...add 1/2 banana and 1 T of Peanut Butter (7 xtra grams of protein) and blend with a little ice. Yummy! It is frothy and good and really holds me over. I am not saying that is what it EXACTLY says to do....but that is what I do too.

If you do cheat, make sure it is something that at least has Protein. My surgeon allows cottage cheese after just a few days post-op. I don't know exactly how long cause I don't have my band yet, but that seems like it might be a safe choice. I am sensitive to high carb foods (messes w/my blood sugar) so I would never grab a waffle if I was starving. That is likely to drive your hunger up even more. Maybe call your surgeon's office and see what they recommend. I'm sure its not the first time they will have had someone call and say they just can't do only liquids any longer.

I'm not in your shoes yet but will be soon. You're on clear liquids? How long until you get to full liquids? If you are absolutely going to cheat, I'd try the least "dangerous" way possible. Maybe choose something from your full liquid list. A Protein Shake would be a lot better choice than a waffle for both safety and satiety.

Thanks all for your support. Today I was starving I didn't have nothing. So I said let me at least drink some crystal light and a lot of Water before I get deyhdrated. I did that and after my stomach was growling so bad I was feeling week and went and made me a slim fast shake. I am glad I did it helped a whole lot, but I think I drank it too fast because now it feels like it's stuck in my chest and I don't know what to do. It itsn't that bad, but better then the hunger pains and weak feeling I had. Yes I am only on clear liquids right now my first appt to the dr for follow up is thurs thank god. Then I am sure I will be going on full liquids for 3 days then so on. I cannot wait til this part is all over with. Banster hell is the worst part of this whole band thing it can make you go nuts.

as bad as it sounds.... I cheat almost everyday. Its not that I mean to cheat but I am a teacher... in Korea. To most that wont make sense but it is the biggest compliment when a student wants to share their candy or food with you. So when you are offered something then you must take it. If it is small like one little candy you must eat it right away and then explain how good the candy is. Since I am the "fun teacher" my kids love to give me candy. If it is one candy I eat it, if lots come my way at one time I explain that I will eat it all after class.

Saying no to a students candy is like telling them they are stupid ( bad bad bad in Korea). So I dont have a choice. My co-teacher likes me after having this surgery because after class I always come into the office with some new things for her to eat.

Yes, I am also suffering from hunger. I had my surgery Oct. 13th and my doctor put me on 21 days of liquids. But, everytime I feel like cheating I have to remember all the reasons I had the surgery in the first place. I have 3 little girls and I want to enjoy them for many years to come. I have a awesome wife who is in great shape and I want to live a long healthy and happy life with her. So, it really makes my choice easy not to cheat once I remember all those things. I figure a little suffering now in exchange for a lifetime of happiness! Good luck everyone.

I know its hard, i was starving the first week. but i promise that it will go away. my hunger pains actually stopped by day 7. i was hungry but if i had the shake it went away immediatly and it didnt hurt like it did the first week. dont cheat! you can risk the band slipping and or not healing properly. just think the pain is weakness leaving your body. you will get through it. also what got me through it was .. i have eaten whatever i have wanted for 22 years i can sacrifice a month of not eating. i didnt think i would be where i am now, but i got here and the time flew by

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
