Can anyone eat rice at all?

Recommended Posts

I actually think I could eat it now, I need to get a fill. I found a recipe for spicy chicken and rice Soup that looked good, but am a little scared to eat the rice. I am wondering if it is loose in a soup instead of clumped together if it is easier to get down?

I've had my band for a year and am at my sweet spot, and I can eat rice with caution. When I eat plain rice, I take smaller bites of it then I would other foods, and if I feel I'm a little tight with it, I just go on to something else, then try again. I've never had any problems with it. In Soup, I'd think it would be even easier to eat since it's already so plumped up with Water. Just go slow at first, and see how you feel. If you start to feel tight, stop.

I prefer brown rice, and really only a small amount since I'd rather fill up on Protein and veggies.

I eat rice (in small amounts) regularly. Sticky rice (Chinese food) can give me trouble, but I eat rice with chili and other foods at least weekly with no problems. I guess we're all different. Now ask me about those evil boneless chicken breasts....

I pretty much gauge if I’m too tight or not tight enough on rice. If I can’t eat rice comfortably (provided I'm taking small bites and chewing well) then I’m too tight. Being able to eat some carbs, especially whole grains like rice or whole wheat breads (one serving) is a good healthy thing. Our bodies need the Fiber for staying regular.

I eat rice fairly often. I cook my wild rice in the amount of Water per the package and add chicken granules (you can buy jars of this on the spices row, or on the row where they sell broth). I don't use much salt since the granules are a little salty. I get really good chicken flavored rice and have no problems eating it.

I have no problems eating rice or bread. I also easily picked up the habit of chewing everything extremely well. Some of my friends that don't tolerate it, admit that they don't chew as well as they should.

I can tolerate rice without a problem but I'm not a big rice eater though.

No problem w/rice - white, brown, wild...

Rice in Soup should definitely not be a problem. The only way white rice would be a problem is if I gulped it down the way I used to.

Rice is tricky. At times I can eat small quantities, but at others, I can barely get a forkful down. I have found that brown rice is easier than white rice, but the method of cooking and end texture do play a factor.

Does this apply to sushi also? I have been on the road for a while, and there hasn't been anything to eat. I am 28 days post op, so I eat about 5 mini rolls. So far so good. Is this bad? I haven't had a fill yet. I am one week away from eating "solids", but I didn't want to blow it by eating fast food.

Thoughts?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
