Is anyone else's band is FULL to capacity??

Recommended Posts

It took me over a year and about 5-6 fills to get restriction, but here's the problem---my band is FULL. I only have the small band (4cc), and when I told my new doc this, he seemed surprised and made a comment that "they don't use the smaller bands anymore". In fact, he made me show him the card because he thought for sure I was mistaken.

It's taken a FULL band to get restriction for me, and I'm scared of what will happen when I start to lose that restriction. I believe there's even a little bit *over* 4cc in there.

Is anyone else out there full to capacity on their band?

What happens now? I've finally started losing again but had to go on Atkins to make it happen. I'm worried what will happen if I start to lose restriction again...I obviously won't be able to get a fill :).

I'm a little angry with my surgeon for using the smaller band. I know it's all based on size and anatomy, etc....but if it takes a FULL 4cc band to give me *any* restriction at all, it doesn't seem like a larger band would have hurt. Am I just confused on that?

I worked so hard for this......

I have 10.5cc in a 10cc band. I, too, worry about what will happen "later". I am 15+ months out and have lost 115 pounds but still need to lose at least 30 more. But the big goal, of course, is to not GAIN anything back even if I never lose another pound. So far, still pretty good restriction, but what happens later?

I asked at my surgeon's office about this when I thought I was getting close to full (I wasn't and probably will not). They said that the size of the band is the recommended amount, but they have a few people that they push beyond that amount. She also said they've never had anyone not get restriction.

I have 9 ccs in my 9 cc Realize band. I am just shy of 6 mos out so they are looking into getting a fill under fluro to see if there are problems with my band or something else going on. However, YES... I'm worried about what my next step is. Where am I gonna turn when I need a fill once a year?

I do have a decent amount of restriction but if I had more to fill I think I would.

I have 11 cc in a 9 cc Realize Band. My last fill was 0.5 cc over two months ago, and it has brought me to my perfect restriction level. My last couple of fills were done under fluoro, since I had gone over 9 cc without getting long lasting restriction. My doctor also measure my band pressure with a gauge during my last fill. He said he had a few other patients that had to go to this level of fill to get good restriction.

I haven't lost a bit of restriction with this last fill over time. I've lost a little over 50 lbs and need to lose a little over 20 more. I really don't anticipate needing anymore saline to get me to goal, and I don't think he would give me more, unless I lost some fill over time, as sometimes happens.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
