I am into my 3rd month of a 6 month supervised diet. I am riding my recumbent bike as much as possible (bad knees). I am trying to maintain a 14000-1700 calorie or so and am losing some weight. I have lost 15 lbs so far, so will now slow it down a bit. I really am only required to lose about 12 lbs. I must say I am really trying to eat healthy in preparation for the rest of my life. And it's pretty easy. I do still have a bit of ice cream once in a great while or a cookie or a Hershey's miniature. But this is rare. My Snacks are 100 calorie prepackaged snacks. Lots of fruits and veggies has helped too. I am determined to get the band next spring and will do what it takes to get me there. Tonight is my sleep over for the apnea thing. Yeah I can hardly wait.

This is the time you start implementing changes in your diet and exercise, or to introduce new habits and begin cutting out the bad stuff...The time to show your commitment to change your ways So use your nutritional counseling to get into position with knowledge about things you can do today to make a difference and how you need to eat after the banding etc. It can be a great education.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
