Things I can do since my lap band...

Recommended Posts

This is kind of embarrassing but yesterday I was able to wear a pair of regular pants instead of still wearing my MATERNITY pants that I had been in for the past 2 years!

congratulations katlynn. Weight loss is sooo wonderful and exciting. I have a pair of maternity pants and guess what.. I've never been pregnant. My stomach is going down as well as the rest of me and before you know those pants will be in the trash/recycled.

OOOOohh fun thread! I am down 24 lbs so far.

I can wear size 16 jeans with no muffin top! And without having to unbutton them when I sit down.

I can run without pain.

I can buckle the belt on an airplane seat without having to go to the very end of the thing.

I can wear fitted shirts without too much embarrassment about the back fat or muffin top.

My bras are no longer too tight! Way more comfortable.

What I can't do: No more binging! Yeah!

I've lost about 25 and I can't get them to shutup. thing is they have seen me smaller than I am now so i can't understand the big deal. It will happen for you too. Don't let people discourage you just make sure when they finally do comment you are looking GREAT!

I can tie my shoes without huffin' and puffin'! I'm down 20 lbs since my surgery date of 9/18/09 and no one has mentioned anything yet. But I've gone down a size and had to take my pants in. That makes me happy!

I don't snore anymore....it just stopped. And I can get up in the morning now without a problem. I used to use the snooze on my alarm clock a hundred times and wake up like a zombie. I didn't realize what all that junk food put me into a coma at night.

I can now paint my toe nails without having someone else do them, because I can reach the darn things. My Grand daughter called me her big Nana one time and now she calls me her little Nana. I can now go up stairs without huffing and puffing. 2 pounds from goal in 14 months.

Wow- that is phenomenal! Kids are great- they really tell you like it is. They don't have the filters that most of us gain as we age- so if she's calling you "little nana", you know it's the truth!

Congrats!:willy_nilly:

Howdy! I just had my 6 month BANDiversary on 12/8/09. Since it was a special day, I decided to hop on the scale at home (I usually only get weighed when I go for my fill.) to check my weight. My scale read 255. That meant I had lost 70LBS since 4/14 (date I 1st went to my PCP). I couldn't believe it, so I checked my scale's accuracy w/ an unopened 5lb bag of flour (goofy, I know). The scale was accurate:) I also had my hubby take my measurements later that night. I'm down 42 inches.

Here are some things that have changed for me since my surgery...

1) I can cross my legs easily.

2) I am down from a tight size 28 to a loose size 22.

3) My house is constantly neat and tidy (due to more energy).

4) The laundry is always caught up (due to more energy).

5) I have more time in my day (due to NOT napping).

6) The food budget is way down.

7) I need to get my rings resized.

8) I can feel my bones.

9) My family/friends/colleagues compliment me daily.

10) I have increased self esteem.

11) I am now a size smaller than when I got married.

12) I am off of my stomach and cholesterol meds.

Here are some of my upcoming goals...

1) I only have 30lbs to lose to reach a 100lb loss.

2) I want to put my true weight on my driver's license (Aug '10).

3) I want to buy summer clothes in a size 18 or smaller.

4) I want to fly w/o a seat belt extender.

5) I want to ride all the rides at Kings' Island and Cedar Point

6) I want to complete a 3K Fourth of July Walk.

7) I want my weight and clothing size to both start w/ a "1."

GOOD LUCK TO ALL WITH YOUR JOURNEY:smile:

ladies,

I am in a size 16. Now wait... I can't breathe or walk in them but I could put them on!. That was a yeah right before. I actually thought I was buying my "inspiration" jeans. Definitely nothing I could in now or in about a month. I am 240 pounds. I have lost 50 pounds total. YAH! I hope everyone is doing well.

Oh yeah I'm only 1.5 BMI away from being obese and NOT extremely obese.

This is a strange accomplishment but one I have always wanted to be able to do. I can actually wear thigh highs without them folding down and coming off b/c my thighs are too big. I have never been able to do this. I have lost a TON of inches off my thighs. It's so exciting!

I finally shopped in the front of the store. Let me explain. Places like wal-mart, k-mart, sears; they put plus size clothing to the back of the stores. I always felt like I was being banished. Well I set out to just try on clothes last night and I adventured to the front. It felt so strange and new yet exciting at the same time. I was able to fit some tops and bottoms. I have never been able to to that and it excites me.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
