Introducing Bread and Pastas???

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone...I hope everyone is doing well! I am now 5 weeks out from by banding and I am wondering how long any of you waited to eat any type of bread Products (Wheat Tortillas, Wheat Toast, Crackers,Pasta, etc...)? I'm just wanting to add a little something new..:(

I am 10½ weeks post op. I have eaten some Special K Protein Crackers and I had no problem with those. But decided not to buy anymore because they are “triggers” for me to want to eat. I have also eaten some thin crust pizza and it was fine. But on Tuesday I had my 2nd fill and on Thursday tried to eat a very small piece again and it got stuck and I was in terrible pain for a couple of hours. it was my fault I did not chew well, so when you add bread be sure to take small bites and chew well. I have stayed away from Pasta and rice as per my Dr.

I will be 6 weeks post-op this coming Tuesday and I just tried whole grain speghetti noodles tonight. I was under the impression that bread, Pasta, rice, etc. would never be tolerated but my nutritionist said otherwise. She told me that I could try thin crust pizza with pineapple and chicken. She said brown rice would be okay too.

I feel like my surgeon and my nutritionist are saying two different things. It can be frustrating!!!

I used to be able to eat bread, Pasta and rice in small doses or if I chewed really, really well. However, this all ended with my last fill/adjustmentl--NO MORE! It just gets stuck and its too painful. I will however, eat the crust of bread when we go out to eat but i have to put a ton of butter on it.

I was able to eat bread, Pasta, etc for about the first 5-6 months or so...but after I achieved my sweet spot, I cannot eat those things at all anymore! Youshould be ok to try them...just chew really well and take small bites.

my doc basically said... I am a carb addict... stay off the carbs (bread; rice; pasta) while I am in the weight loss phase. Once I have achieved my desired weight loss, then I can add those back in, in limited quantities. You wouldn't give alcohol to a recovering alcoholic, why tempt our bodies with those triggers? That doesn't mean I can't have veggies and fruit, though... so keeping a good low GI balanced "diet" is, IMO, a good thing.

food for thought...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
