Anyone Else PB Like This????

Recommended Posts

So technically I don't really PB. I have done that maybe 3 times since my surgery 9 months ago. However, I do Productive Sneeze about 3-4 times a month. I'll be eating, maybe take a bite too big and start sneezing. I'll keep sneezing (it has lasted 10 minutes before!!) until I Productive Sneeze! I quickly learned to always have a paper napkin handy in case I start sneezing. Does this happen to anyone else???? Is this worse/better/the same as PBing?? :(

If food is coming through your nostrils, I can't help you there. But if its just normal sneezing, its probably a sign to stop eating due to eating too fast, too big a piece, food too dry, not properly chewed, etc. Put your fork down, take a break, and try again later if you still feel hungry. But becareful to follow proper banding eating rules.

Everyone is different, so the warning signs are different. For some its hicups, burping, tight feeling, etc. Its important to learn your signas and listen to your body.

Hope this helps!

I should have clarified more when describing this, nothing is coming out of my nostrils!!! I would die if that happened. I sneeze it out of my mouth.

I was hoping that a ton of other people on here would be having the same experience every once in a while, but I guess I am just a weird one! :seeya:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
