I just went in to get my 3rd fill - I have had no restriction yet. I was at 5.5 cc's and the doc said he was only going to put 1/2 cc in- that I should be restricted and he wouldn't want to put to much more in. HELP!! how many cc's did people have in before they felt restriction- or the sweet spot I read about?????? I'm worried now that this won't work for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did he say he woudn't want to put more in at this fill or that he didn't want to put any more in ever?

Perhaps he needs to be reminded that everyone is different.

I've had 4 or 5 fills (last one under fluro) and have less then a cc to go till I'm all full. No sweet spot for me yet.

Are you losing at a decent pace? slow and steady wins the race

If he won't fill you to where you need to be, I'd find a new doctor. I had to get to 7.3 cc before I felt any restriction. I'm now at 7.8 cc and losing quite well. Everyone is different when it comes to the band. These doctors that have this set level of cc drive me nuts. I hope you can get it worked out!

I agree with Melly, if you're doctor is going to arbitrarily stop giving your fills without getting you to your sweet spot, I'd look for a new surgeon. That defeats the purpose of having the band.

I agree with everyone else. I had a fill yesterday...I am now ay 8.5CCs. My Dr told me just yesterday that everyone is different. He has seen some with less cc's than me and has seen some with more. It's all on an individual basis.

hi there I was banded on 6/2/09 with an 11 cc band. I have had two fills for a total of 5.5 ccs. I am going for my 3rd fill on Oct. 7th. So far I haven't felt ANY restriction. Just want you to know you are not alone. From what I hear it usually takes 3-4 fills (which probably means 5)

Keep at your doc to help you find the right level. I think it just tales a while. I'm only 36 pounds down since surgery and it is all will power and exercise at this point. That's good, I know, but man I am looking forward to when this thing is engaged and working for me. Good luck to you!!!!

I had my second fill yesterday. First was 4cc's and yesterday was 2 more in a 9 cc band. So far I don't feel much restriction...but of course I am just eating mushies and liquids. I will probably feel more as I have noticed it sometimes takes some time before it kicks in. My doc told me that it has been his experience that with a 9 cc band...the "sweet" spot is around 7 to 7.5 cc's.

I know how you feel. I actually had my 2nd fill yesterday and am on mushies till Friday. I have 5 cc's in a 10 cc band. He said he has never had to fill anyone all 10 cc's before. But I am worried that might be me. He said his patients usually have between 4-7 cc's and that their sweet spot. I had 4 cc's in and yesterday he gave me 1. I hope this is the right place for me but probably not...

I am also going for my 3rd fill tomorrow. I'm hoping that does it. I have SOME restriction, but not nearly enough. I've stopped losing for the past 3-4 weeks. I also need to start exercising again - was doing great, going to the gym everyday - but stopped going. Gotta get back into it for sure.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
