Weak and Shakey

Recommended Posts

I was banded 9/26, 10 days ago. I have been on Protein Shakes and broth (and 1/2 cup low carb yogurt once) ever since. I am getting weaker and now feel even shakey. I know I am supposed to go on mushies Monday but I think I really need to eat something. I have to work and my students are not the easiest bunch (teens with emotional issues). Does anyone know if there are rules and guidelines to mushy foods? Anything that I can puree? or ??? Thanks.

I'm no doctor, but I am a diabetic, and you sound like you're getting hypoglycemic, low blood sugar. Can you have some kind of juice or regular popsicles? Anything liquid with sugar, not a ton of sugar, but enough to help you until Monday.

I also would call the docs tomorrow and ask if you can start mushies a little early or if you can have some regular Soup if you put through the blender.

You don't want to be passing out in the classroom with those children.

Good luck, hope you feel better soon. Sorry I can't help a whole lot.

Cindy

I had 2 weeks of full liquids and then onto mushies. There was a few days that I felt as you described. For me, it was the low calories and not enough Protein...

Ask your Dr. to start a bit early on the mushies. My doctor allowed me 2-3 days before my official time.

In my mushies stage, I could eat scrambled eggs, oatmeal, cream of wheat, etc.

Good luck to you. You are doing great.

Shawn

How much protei nare you drinking? How many grams? More portien will help with the shakes and the dizziness. I had the same problem 8 days post op. If it were me I wouls stick to the progrma and not do mushys til Monday per your Dr.'s orders..up the Protein Drinks, maybe some watered down blended Soups will help.

with 3 servings of my shakes I get 51 grams of Protein and 550 calories. It is weird because I use Cambridge shakes and a few years ago was on three shakes a day for 6 weeks and never felt like this. Maybe my body is still healing from the surgery. I just feel so tired even after getting a good nights sleep. Oh well, it'll pass I am sure. Teaching is such a tap dance, especially when most of the kids have ADHD and can't have any "down" time. I love my kids and my job though and am grateful for both.

thanks all.......see i' m too tire to even capitalize............lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
