I was banded June 5th. I lost 18 pounds on the pre diet and none since. I am still hungry. I have 5 1/2 cc's in an 11 cc band. I just want to know there are others out there who are in the same boat. I have tried to diet, but I'm hungry. I'm starting to get frusterated. I want to lose weight so bad!!!!:)

It's hard until you get enoug fill to consider yourself at or near your sweet spot. Here are a few suggestions:

1. EAT Protein. Ditch any Protein shakes. Solid Protein takes longer to digest than anything else you can put in your stomach so it will make you feel full longer.

2. If you get hungry in less than four hours, snack...BUT make that snack PROTEIN. Am I getting boring yet? LOL! Seriously, 1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese (that's somewhere around 12 grams of protein), a boiled egg, three or four steamed shrimp.....See #1 above as to why I'm saying snack on protein.

3. Drink your Water (eight 8 oz glasses a day is only a start for me). Drink it throughout the day. It will make your skin look healthier, help you feel a little full between meals and will make you less likely to miss it during and immediately after your meal if you drink it steadily.

4. Exercise. You don't have to go to the gym for 2 hours everyday, but pick an exercise habit you know you can stick with and DO IT. Nike had it right: Just Do It!

Good luck! And keep us posted as to how you're doing.

I was with you until last week when I finally after 6 fills hit my sweet spot. So hang in there, i was so frustrated but it really does start working once you have the correct fill level. Keep trying to eat as healthy as you can and get your fills, some just take longer than others to get there. I am at 6cc in my band if that helps, I had surgery 5/28 so it has taken me 3 1/2 mos to finally feel like I am heading in the right direction.

I am feeling the same way. I am a little more than a month post op. I went to my surgeon today hoping to get a fill because I am SO hungry and I can eat a lot more than I thought. (a LOT more) and he won't give me one. I have lost 18 pounds since surgery and my band is EMPTY! (I have a 7.5cc one) I am choosing wisely and trying to control portions but this feels like a regular diet that I know I can do for a while but I don't know how long my willpower will hold out. I go back in EIGHT weeks!

ParrotheadCathy is so right. I use the cottage cheese(loe cals and lots of protein)...best thing since slice bread  and excersice. You have to excercise...walk or something. I make it a goal to excercise at least 5 times a week. With the change in eating habits and excercising....you will begin to see the difference.

Screw that!! 8 weeks - I'd find another doctor. There is another thread were someone was begging to their doctor to give them a fill too. If your self-pay I wouldn't waste my time begging for fills. I haven't got my 1st fill yet - so I understand the feeling of hungry. Hang in there!

Unfortunately, I live in Germany. My insurance is Tricare but there is only my surgeon and one other doctor that is covered by Tricare. I really hope that he gives at some point. I am scared of failing at this too. He said the indication for needing a fill is "not losing weight". SO with an 18 pd loss, that does indicate the need. I tried explaining how hungry I am, how much I can eat, etc. but he just said you have to fix your head and not the band. SO, I guess I am stuck for now. Maybe I can convince him next visit but if I continue to work hard and lose weight, he probably wont...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
