I think I'm eating too much...

Recommended Posts

I've been banded for just over a month now and I'm down 30lbs and trilled about that. I've been on regular solid food now for 2 weeks and I think that I'm making better food choices now than before. What I'm starting to be concerned about is that I can eat alot of food now. Tonight I had half a bowl of chili, a slice of colby/jack cheese and a small salad. Does that sound like too much? I don't feel sick or anything just full so I stop. Yesterday I had three scrambled eggs and two pieces of sausage for Breakfast. That kept me full for about 5 hours and then I had lunch, half of a chicken blt salad from Wendy's and those things are pretty good size. I'm just worried I'm eating to much, the scales are not saying I am but I just feel like I am. I ate the other half of the salad for supper. I'm pre-fill and probably won't get my first one until after Thanksgiving holidays and I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I'm I worrying over nothing?

Yes. :D

You're losing weight, right? You're not shoveling food in past warnings from the band and making yourself sick, right? You're pre-fill, my dear! Relax and enjoy the fact that you're losing weight eating a decent amount of food!

Don't worry about how much you're eating, as long as it's *enough* food. Eat until you feel satisfied, and if you're still losing weight, hooray for you! You'll get a fill soon enough.

I went 6 months without a fill, and ate a whole lot more than most bandsters. But I was still losing weight, consistently. I eat a lot less now, but still more than most bandsters. You're actually eating a lot less than you think you are, especially if you compare it to pre-op. If you go to www.fitday.com and log your food intake for a few days, you'll see that you're really not eating a whole lot of food.

Enjoy this time! The real hard work comes later!

What Alexis said. :D

What you're describing as possibly "too much" is probably just a fraction of what you ate pre-band. THAT'S why you're losing weight! Be thankful that you can do it without feeling deprived or torturing yourself. As Alexis said, this period will pass and you'll find that your weight loss slows down, at which point you'll decide you want a fill. But in the meantime enjoy yourself!

Your internal swelling is probably all gone now, so you can fit more than before. I have noticed that i can eat more if i wanted to, but i choose to stick with 1/2 cup of food at a time.

I've dropped over 31 lbs since 8/12/03. I've always thought I eat too much. Still do. I'm thinking we are contious about what we eat now huh. That and we get full faster and stay longer. Be cool and you will continue. I don't sweat it so much anymore. I figure I'm on track and this is working for me. We are all different.

By the way when you get filled correctly you wont be able to eat as much and you will go longer between meals. You can still wash food down though so remember the drinking rules.

Bobby @244.5 lbs now.

Started@276.

New Goal is 235lbs by New year.

Thanks to all for the support.....

My doctor told me to try to stick to one cup of food at each meal. I have found I can eat a little more than that, but I'm making an effort not to. I really notice the difference after my swelling went down! One thing that has blocked me up is toast. I had read somewhere that toast is easier to tolerate than bread. I tried to have a scrambled egg and half a piece of toast and I felt the sickening pain and excessive saliva of blockage. This has happened twice. At first I thought I was because I ate the toast too quickly, but no, even when I ate it slowly I still felt the same. So no toast. I've also heard to avoid rice, as it expands in the stomach.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
