Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Recommended Posts

I go to the same stylist forever, she owns the salon across the street from work. She always asked if I was pregnant (for 3 years now). Nice huh? She knows what she's doing, she's the only one who does my eyebrows right and she trims my hair in like 2 minutes flat.

Wow, I miss having my eyebrows done. Sue used to do them, but since she left the shop I am too cheap to pay to have them done, so I pluck them myself.

Now, my printer broke for a second time so I got a new printer, but the only thing is I can't figure out how to get the cartridges in. I am taking it to work, and somebody I sure will be able to figure it out. We have lots of people come in. I just thought of something, maybe in needs to be plugged in for the right things to pop up? Maybe I will try that tonight before I tote the printer into work.

Oh well off to work.....................

Heather, I know you mentioned Augmentin so I wanted to find out what you ended up doing to get her to take it?? Carson is on Augmentin ES, and he's been on it 9 days now (tomorrow is last thank goodness), but it'd be nice to know for future reference. Everything I find online is for 'kids' that you can trick them with treats and chocolate...

In the evening we mix it into his fruit, and he doesn't notice, but in the mornings... He doesn't finish a bottle, so can't mix it into that (plus it's like gold as you know, they run out!!) I'd hate to even try a smaller bottle, him taste it, and refuse it then trying to force an ounce of milk into him. And he doesn't care for more than a bite or two of solids in the morning, so we can't mix it in his food.

One trick I read online, is you can ask for a higher concentrated dose so that you have to give less liquid. Do you remember what Ayla's dose was? I'm curious if that's something you can do with Augmentin. We have to give him 3.5ml, 2x a day. 3.5ml is a LOT to force... for our mornings I am able to get .5ml before he freaks out, then its a fight, and most of the time he gags and spits up more than I'd like to see (as I scramble with my fingers to push it back in, as well as I can!!!).

He has a top & bottom retainer that he has to wear constantly for a year, then every other day for another year or so...

And now the news I'm nervous to type... the plant exchange is complete... and the new one is a gorgeous -- really gorgeous -- hydrangea plant -- which is one of my all-time fav flowering plants and I don't have any! -- but... ack... you'll see it anyway in the pic... but... it's ever so very slightly pink-ish! There, I said it! But I LOVE IT so please let's leave it be, k??

Good evening, Violets..

Michelle.... DS looks great!! Bet he's glad to be rid of the metal in his mouth.

As for the flowers. Yup.. they're very pretty and more of what I wanted for you from us, but I will be calling my florist tomorrow just to let them know. I told them to tell the florist, it HAD to be violet. (not to worry.. no more exchanges!) But I am happy that they are pretty and one of your favorite plants. I hope it grows well in your garden and that it will be a reminder of our love for you.

It was a gorgeous day here today. Unbelievable 74 degrees!!!! I spent a lot of time trying to balance our checking accounts after having to uninstall and reinstall the Microsoft Money program. Finally got it within a penny, so I'm happy.

I went to the resale shop and got a few cute shirts for spring.

Had choir rehearsal and then dinner with the Bobster. Now I'm home and in my jammies. The next few days will be very busy. Tomorrow Ethan comes at 8-4, then I head to Bob's church to participate in the Maundy Thursday service, then Friday is the three hour Good Friday service when I'll be playing in a flute duet and singing a solo. Kris is coming with Grady to color eggs with Ethan while I'm gone for the 3 hours.

She was here with Grady today and we went out to lunch and then to the park for some playtime.

Now it's time to settle in and watch Modern Family and then Man VS food. It's all good.

Everyone have a good evening. sleep well!

here, just a super busy day today...

I had to go pick up my wedding dress, then take it the the alteration lady, who then told me I had to lose 10 lbs so that it fits right :/

soooo, I told her I was in the process. but then that means that they can't get started with the bewbage area because my bews might shrink more... so double sigh... i waited too long to bring it in, I waited to long to try to lose 10 lbs... can i lose 10 lbs in two days???? LOL

michelle - what a handsome boy! i was supposed to wear my retainer forever! when i stopped wearing it my teeth shifted...

your hydrangea is beautiful! those are one of my favorite flowers! I wanted lots of hydrangeas at the wedding until juan one day shared with me that he hated them, LOL. he hates poufy flowers! whaaaaa! he likes sleek ones, example, calla lilies. which i hate! LOL...

but anyway, the flowers are gorgeous and i'm glad you loved them!

i'm exhausted and headed to bed. waking up at 430 is killing me!

You could do it, Haydee... do pro shakes for a week & voila, 10 lbs gone!

I love hydrangeas and lilacs and daffodils and tulips and redbud trees and dogwood trees... yay Spring!

I'm happy to announce that I have some actual GOOD news to type for once in a long while!! --

Ready for it?

Really?

Are you sure??

:frown:

I AM going to WDW w/my mom & sis!!

post-11013-13813809580401_thumb.png

It was finally decided last night. I still feel a bit odd about it, but have decided to let that go and allow myself to feel excited and happy about it!

Plus, it'll be a completely different experience than what I'm used to... instead of a kid focus, it'll be an adult focus... + w/my mom enjoying the Flower & Garden show (this is where my kids' eyes glaze over and say "Go, Mom. Go." lol) at a leisurely gardener's pace, etc... It'll be good.

Plus we're going to ask FIL to come down that weekend, so the kids are excited about that.

Ok, off to Sam's Club to purchase sub sandwich ingredients for a soccer party w/ 50 teens tonight -- then bring it all home and MAKE all the subs!! Ay yai yai -- how do I get myself into these things?? :cursing:

Everyone make it a great day!

Did I forget to post yesterday?

Today is world autism day, everyone should wear blue, I hope I have blue, I know that sounds silly, but I may not have it. (top wise)

Haydee, my nephew is 21 and in ROTC and every semester when he has to weigh in he has to lose about 10 pounds in a few days. He doesn't eat much and drinks all Water. He also exercises to beat the band. Once again though, he is 21..................

Okay off to find a blue shirt and then shower!!

Happy Friday Girls~

We went to see Melissa Etheridge last night...she was AMAZING! She has a new album coming out in April, and it is great!!! We saw her last year, and if she comes next yr. I'll see her again!!

MIL comes today w/ our German company! It will be nice to see them again...makes it a bit hard since I don't understand what they are saying. MIL's boyfriend (of 25 years) speaks a little German so it is really just me "out of the loop"...I am reading a great book, so I guess I'll log some hours in this weekend. Plus the 30 papers trickling in.

My back is still messed up...kinda worried. My hips ACHE so bad, shooting pains down my legs...blahblahblah. Tired of hearing myself complain.

Everyone have a great day! xooxxoox

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
