Recommended Posts

Oh my goodness, Suzy! Good luck!

More hugs all around for the amazing Violets! We are strong and fierce and reliable and amazing EVERY DAY!!!

((VIOLETS!!))

Regular day on tap here today. DH & his brother are (finally) going up to NJ tomorrow, will stay 'til Sat at least, we think.

I heard that the Chile earthquake actually knocked the earth off its axis! I wish it'd all get back "in whack" soon... this year is just hinky!

Good afternoon,Violets.

Ethan just went home with daddy. Jen is home. The psychiatrist that talked to her today said she didn't need to be back in the mental ward. She put her on Celexa and said the drugs they tried to give her after her last episode were incorrect. Both Bob and I have been to this psychiatrist before and we really trust her. She did well by both of us. So my fingers are crossed. There will be ongoing counseling and follow up. Jen has tomorrow and Friday off and then will be back to work on Monday, so I won't have Ethan again until then.

So now it's off to choir and then home to watch Modern Family while I exercise.

Hope everyone is having a good day. Sure is quiet in here.

I'm getting a 12 yr old girl today. Her dad called DSS and asked them to take her. She's been in a shelter for 2 weeks. It's crazy.

Gia (the 12 yo) was living with her dad, an older brother @18 and an older sister @17. The dad has a GF with a son @19. The GF's son and the dad's daughter are sharing a bedroom, as are the dad and GF of course. The GF cut Gia's hair all off. Dad called DSS because 'if she doesn't leave she will get hurt (physically)'. Nice.

Her Grandma (dad's mom) will be contacted to see if she will take custody and as of yet doesn't know the situation. She was here for Christmas, but they had the daughter sleep elsewhere during that time. But Grandma lives in Arizona and arrangements can take 6+ months now that she is in the system and they have to approve the Grandma.

The social worker says Gia is a good kid but is left to her own devices too much because everyone else is self sufficient.

This will be an adjustment for us both -- I have never had kids and to jump in at 12. Yikes!!

Am baking heath bit/choc chip Cookies for FIL right now... it's funny how, when I bake when I'm being "good" w/eating, that the batter makes SO many more cookies than when I'm not! :) Interesting...

Already made him a batch of pumpkin muffins, too. & have a cinnamon bread in the freezer. I figure he can freeze it all and enjoy as he wishes. Something special, made w/love just for him.

Good morning, Violets..

I'm up early for a flute rehearsal and to get things ready for the accountant who is coming today. I take care of all the financial stuff here and I have to be gone when the accountant arrives. I have everything in order for Bob to present. We'll see how good of a job he does!

Things are calm on the home front. Jen got home yesterday, Ethan went home and it's very quiet here today. I offered to take Ethan so Jen could rest today, but Joe said they were fine. I won't see Ethan again until Monday.

I think I'll spend some time in bed today. I have this hacking cough that calms down when I'm laying down. I have two concerts coming up in mid March and can't afford to have no voice or air to blow on the flute!!

I'm off to fix some Breakfast even though I don't feel like eating at all.

Janie... hope your day today is better than yesterday!!! I read about your flat tires on Facebook.

Everyone have a great day..

Hey Girls~

We have a minimum day today then we have a big meeting this afternoon...on the budget. Should be depressing. Our neighbor district is laying off 188 teachers!!! Just bad news. Meanwhile, the kids are still there, we just now have 40+ in a class. Who the hell is running this state?

Klausy has a doctor apt this afternoon! Then we are going to Stef's for dinner! Tomorrow at 8:45 we have our meeting w/ the life ins girl, 10am our Quality Walk...then HOPEFULLY get our keys! Not sure yet!!! IF we "fund" today, we will get the keys tomorrow! IF we don't "fund" today, then they have to draw up more docs. sooo EVERYONE is working to get us funded today!!! Cross your fingers for us!

I'll pop in later...everyone have an outstanding day!!

Well, I made it through my first morning as a mom. Got Gia up, she got ready for school wearing the shorts (it's 26' outside) she loves, ate breakfast, played on the computer for a few minutes, asked me if it was time to leave for school, I said maybe we should take one pair of the jeans just in case the school says you cannot wear the shorts (she had told me last night that she cannot wear them to school). Ok, I think I'll just change clothes. Cool!!

The teachers were so happy to see her -- she hasn't been there at all the two weeks she was at the shelter. I spoke to a couple of them (teachers) and the principal and asst. principal.

On the way home, I stopped and got groceries we didn't have time to get yesterday. A few errands to run and then back to school at 2:30.

Suzy, good for you, I would have also made a stop at the local pharmacy for some valium!!!!

Yesterday was an odd day. I did have two flat tires, I went to the Dr.s office and he was running late, I was getting panicked because I didn't have time to get to work, was going to fast and hit a curb and got a flat tire. (so much for work!) Called roadside assistance, they came got my tire changed with my spare. I called Charlie, said I was on my way. About two miles down the road on the highway I have a problem, but I am too scared to get out of my car, by this time rush hour has hit, and cars are speeding past me. So I call and say I don't know what the problem is, they send a tow truck, and sure enough, my spare is flat!!!!!!

I will tell you about Dr. later.

I hope everyone has a better day!! I just got a call from the shop and my car is done and passed inspection except for a tail light! With the new tires, light and inspection it is 150!! Hurray!!! I budgeted 200 for just the problems that might come from the inspection!! I am so glad!!!

Have a great day!!!

Hi! M typing on my phone @ the barn. Have been on the go all day today. Met a friend for coffee @ panera @ 8am (we see each other once a month), then hurried home to take dh to the rest stop north of Baltimore to meet his bro who drove up from Richmond & they drove up to Philly to see their mom... it's about a 1.5hr drive one way. So 3 hrs doing that. Then picked up dd @ school & now we're here... then ds has soccer@ 8:30 tonight. Phew!

I re-started mil's prayer shawl last night, because I didn't like the other yarn... I knit from 6 - 12:30 last night, then this morn & in the car on the way to the rest stop... I finished it w/ 7 miles to go!! I took a couple really quick pics of it in the parking lot... will post a pic from home later if any turn out. The shawl is lovely & I hope she likes it.

M almost scaring myself w/ my resolve w/ eating... talk about controlling the only thing I can! M down 6 for march so far!!

Enjoy the day!_

Yeah, but you're so close to goal, and I'm miles and miles and miles away, so it's easier... + this is the same weight I keep losing & gaining... down & up & down & UP... I have 34 to go to get to my lowest in the last 3 years, which was last May in Cali... but it's one day at a time, right? Right. Sigh.

Yay Suzie! Sounds like you had a good start :smile2:)

And JANE! 9lb is great, that's 9lb in the right direction, ya know??

Ok I've been crazy busy, and tomorrow night Russ & I are going to Tunica for the weekend.. his parents are coming down to babysit, so I'm hoping they get some good quality time with Carson, and if they have any problems my mom is right down the road.

My poor friend, her mom was released today, which we all thought was weird, they have mandatory psych for these things, so I'm curious what happened.. her husband says she was discharged.. I think he just took her out.

In any event, she got out, he took her home, went to work... friend's sister stopped by with her baby to cheer momma up, and she's in the tub again all messed up. So friend said sounds like she did same thing again, and she called me and was freaking out and then she started cryin when paramedics got there. It's so sad, I can't imagine doing this with your MOM.. So keep her in your prayers still :w00t:

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
