Recommended Posts

Good evening, Violets..

Laura..congrats on getting back in the journey!!! Glad you were able to find what works for you.

Today's eating report:

Breakfast...tuna, soy nuts, mandarin oranges

Lunch...2 eggs scrambled with 2 slices bacon, fat removed and 2 T. cream

Snack...1 orange handful of cashews and macadamia nuts

Dinner...1 tortilla encrusted talapia fillet.

1 cup hot chocolate with Miralax.< /span>

Did 20 minutes of gliding while I watched the food Network challenge. Desparate Housewives is on in a half hour and I'll go up and see how much more I can do while I watch that.

No Ethan tomorrow so I can sleep in a little bit. I have my hospital shift from 10-12 and Community Chorus starts again at 7 p.m. That means I have rehearsals, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday every week! yikes!!!

Everyone sleep well tonight. Tomorrow is a brand new day.

Good Monday Morn, Girlies~~

A regular day on tap here today... work, etc. On-time start to school today, finally! Man those storms kicked our collective butts!

Last night while watching the O's (US/Can hockey game) I started knitting a slouchy cabled beret for DD... those double-point needles really flummox me! But I kept at it and finally got in the groove of them. It's like re-learning how to hold them AND knit at the same time each time!

Looks like all the Vi's are doing our best! Yay us! (We all want to look good for the big doings in May!!)

Everyone make it a great day!

Good morning, Violets..

Yea Band.. Yea Lent...I'm down another pound this morning. The no sugar, lo carbs and exercise are paying off... who knew??

Even my horoscope was interesting this morning. " This is a new stage, and there is much you have given up in order to get where you are. It was worth it. Willingness to sacrifice is a strength of yours. And you have many other places to go." My big challenge will be this weekend. We are going to Great Wolf Lodge Thursday and Friday with all the grandkids and eating healthy will be a challenge, but I know I'll get some pool exercise in. Then on Saturday we are celebrating Grady's 1st birthday a few days early. There will be cake, but Kris already knows I am not eating sweets and another friend of hers gave up sweets for Lent also so she said there will be lots of cake left over!

Michelle.. how is your MIL and Mo?? Keeping them in my prayers. Everytime I complain about Kaylie, our cat, sleeping on me I think of Mo and how sleeping on me isn't really such a big deal.

PamELa, Haydee, Jane, Laura and Heather.. have a good week at work.

We are getting snow here and schools downstate are all closed since they got pounded with up to a foot of snow. We are getting just a couple of inches. It's coming down pretty steady now.

I'm off to fix some Breakfast and then head to my hospital shift.

Everyone make it a good one!!

100 calorie Snacks are helping me... late at night is my worst, I want to snack and snack.. so I save up 400 calories for late night snacking, and I only have 100 calorie snacks.

Yo Crunch has these new 100 calorie yogurt packs.. it's a vanilla or cheesecake yogurt, with crunchy candy bits you pour inside. Oh my.. it's 70 calories lighter than my normal yogurt and tastes better. Cheesecake one...mmmmmmmm. Says it's sweetened with Truvia, I guess I'm a fan of truvia now.

Did I tell you guys I was looking into daycare for 2-3x a week? The place I checked first, was wonderful, but I couldn't afford it. Called La Petit which is about .5 miles from work, and they said they have discounted rates for companies in the area-I can afford it, but I don't know anything about them, so we're doing a tour tomorrow. They are a nationwide daycare 'chain', anyone else have experience with them or have any thoughts on them???

My sister Erika was at La Petit academy for years when she was little. Staff was always wonderful and she loved it there. I think she went from like 4-9 years old. But it would depend so much on the staff...

Why are you doing day-care? I'm planning on following your plan when I have my first and I need to know what to expect!

Ugly dreadry day here... Cold cold cold. And it's supposed to get colder! I'm so ready for sunshine!

YAY on the piehole reports everyone! Everyone is doing great! I'll have to try those yogurts Laura, I see them in the store.

I need to do better on Portion Control. If something is so good I try to get EVERYTHING down my gullet... Not good...

Why the day care..... well, we were going to wait till #2, but he's at an age he wants to play and do a lot all day, which I don't have time for, so it's a battle all day long of trying to work and keep him happy.. and he's old enough to socialize now. Learnin' as I go, though he'd be ok here at work for 2 years, but it looks like 1 year is the limit for keeping him happy. He hates his pen, so I have to put him behind my desk and watch him like a hawk. He wants to crawl all over, and this isn't the place to do it!!

Oh I see. That's a good point. I thought I would be ok until the age of 2 too! We will see what happens!

Yeah, once they're mobile, life gets interesting real fast! Wait 'til he can walk AND talk!

This is my lunchtime check-in. I've been such a good girl today and have been work work working like a fiend. + doing laundry. I even went on a 15ish minute walk outside! :frown: Do not faint! I walked as far up the hill as I could, 'til the sidewalk got blocked by snow, then came back. It felt so good... nice & brisk! And I saw 3 white-tailed deer bounding through the snowy woods... I love it when I see them. If I'd stayed cooped up, I would've missed them!

Off to make my mid-day pro/greek yog/fruit smoothie... then back to work!

Good morning!!

Not much to say, it is cold here, but not super cold like it has been in the past.

Has Mo pooped? Has the snow melted some?????????? I hope it doesn't melt all at once and then cause problems with flooding!!!!!

Yesterday I really wanted to eat bad food. I didn't, but really wanted to.

I am very content right now with things, and don't want to go back to that place I was a few weeks ago!!!

All you guys are GREAT!!!!!

Laura,

before you committ, make sure you "pop in" unexpectedly as well as your tour. Even if it is later that day or the next day...do it before you pay. I taught preschool (not daycare) for 5 years. You want an unexpected visit to see what goes on when they don't think anyone comes by. Are kids crying and not being tended to? Does the facility smell clean? What is the child/teacher ratio? Ask if the teachers have ECE (early childhood education) credits? These are things you will want to know before you sign up and pay money. The teachers don't HAVE to have ECE credits, but you want to know if they do, and that these are not just mommies who need a job.

Keep us posted.

Oh, thanks for asking about Mo & MIL (I'm not sure that's the right order, lol, but...)...

Mo is oh-kay (I'm saying it slowly)... still keeping an eagle eye on him... the mobile vet came today & said he's ok, so... we'll see!

MIL has a different doc app't or test each day this week, Tues - Fri. I asked her what she was doing today, and she said, "Getting my nails done!" Priorities! We're hoping that there will be more concrete answers to what's wrong & what needs to be done to fix it after this week.

Ack, me again. One more thought to share w/the group...

I'm trying to have a "Thy will be done" attitude w/ all these issues... in the hopes that will help w/my mood. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... I believe that to say that AND MEAN IT is one of the hardest things for me. I'm such a control freak (Really? Really??) So accepting what I can & can't affect is important, or else I just drive myself -- & everyone around me -- crazy!

I'm also trying to not fight the food... make a plan, move a bit, and do my best...

Can you hear my inner "Ohm" from here? :frown:

Totally different subject here.

There is no right or wrong answer, just something that has been bothering me or a while.

I call my Dad, Daddy. Charlie thinks that is very odd. He said a lot of people have said something about it.

I gave my dad this plaque that says "Any man can be a dad, but it takes someone special to be a Daddy".

Honestly tell me if you think that is weird!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
