Laura, I teach in a public school, and I'd still send my kids to private school. I'd do it for the religious education but still private!

I'm going to make one in a big heart shape for tomorrow... yeah, that's it! That's my story & I'm sticking to it!

The kids have Monday off for Prez. Day... that will make it 6.5 days off school in a row... AND... I can't believe it, but "they" are calling for SNOW on Monday night into Tuesday... perhaps as much as 6-12"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::smile:

Good morning, Violets...

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!! I spent a nice day with my Valentine yesterday. Drove 2.5 hours to the hospital so he could make a call. Shopped at Babies R Us for a couple of gifts, Bed Bath and Beyond for stuff for moi and then had a nice dinner at a Chinese buffet. 2.5 hours home.. watched a little Olympics and off to bed. Today is church, directing the choir and singing a solo, a baked potato bar luncheon to raise funds for Haiti afterwards and then a Taize service tonight sponsored by our church. I'm playing flute and singing. I'll be ready to chill out tonight.

Hope everyone has a great day today!!

Good morn, Vi's~~

I'm pleased w/myself this morning, as I completed the hat that I began knitting just 4 days ago! I'm infamous for *starting* projects... not so much for *finishing* them, lol! I learned two new techniques: knitting on double-point needles (I've done this a few times, never very successfully) and crocheting the edging (I've never done any crocheting before this!). I even had to rip out and re-do two chunks (the first was because it was too big, so I had to undo it & make it smaller, the other because the edging was uneven & I'm picky), which usually frustrates me and adds to my procrastination (I put it away in a funk, never to return)... but not this time... for some reason, I persevered. It still turned out a *bit* too big, but DS says he likes it & that it's soft & warm, so yay. I want to get back into knitting this year, and am hopeful that a few of this type of quick project will build my confidence and propel me to some more difficult ones, such as vests/sweaters for the whole family for Christmas! Oh my. We'll see!

Here's the hat:

On the Mo front (or "end", lol)... he's home & doing ok. He's eating and acting peppy... he won't let me out of his sight. Giving him all his meds is a bit tricky, but we'll work it out. We'll follow-up on Mon w/the vet... phew.

Off to shower & get ready for DD's last Winter jumper show of the season.

I hope each of you knows how much you mean to me, on this day of love -- and every day. Smooches!!

Good morning, Violets..

The service last night was very relaxing and comforting. Now it's another day and I'm off to my hospital shift and then Ethan comes at noon for the afternoon. 15 degrees here and cloudy. Don't know if there is snow in the forecast or not. Hope you manage to avoid anymore new snow, Michelle!! Glad to hear Mo is doing better.

I'm going to make the cheesecake for Bob today. He's never had it and we are both giving up sweets and most carbs for Lent. I was doing great for awhile and then drifted back into a mini candy bar here and there.. grrrrrrrr

Everyone have a great day.. will check in when I get a chance later.

Good morning my sweet Violets. It's a new week and I have a new attitude right now. I was in such a funk last week because things going on at work, things going on at the wedding venue, things going on with my wedding. Blah. It was just heck.

So. My boss that was "let go". Yeah, he would have been fired eventually. He was half assing everything. Well not even half assing. 1/4 assing. All our accounts are crazy messed up. And I'm getting blamed for crap that I didnt even do! And so last week we brought in some really expensive tax accountants to go through our accounts and "fix" or try to fix things. So I worked like 50 hours last week. Then on top of that I had appointments at the bed and Breakfast to sign contracts. And these brides get testy if you can't meet with them RIGHT away. And I was not in any mood to go and be happy and chipper for them after what I was going through at work... AND THEN, we've been battling with the county people on the permits we need for the venue that we are building. We finally got that resolved though and we resume construction in the next few weeks.

I gotta go back to work for now. I didn't have time to catch up with everyone but I will. Love you all...

Hey Violets~

Haydee, I've been meaning to email you back...just glad your HELL WEEK is over and here's hoping things settle a bit!

Judy, thanks for reminding me about Lent...starts Wednesday and I've got to give up sweets. Problem is, I know I'll cave. Maybe I'll give up carbs...that is doable, well kinda. HHMMM...I need to think on this one. One year I gave up "curse words". I pulled out of mass and someone cut me off...and well, that was over too quick!

Getting taxes done today, then taking a load of papers into the mortgage guy. Getting excited but having FREAK OUT MOMENTS!!! At least we are not fighting like last week. We fought more last week then in our entire 5 years together. I hope that "spurt" doesn't return...we are not really fighters. We just get pissy for a while, then 10 min later, one of us says sorry. HATE FIGHTING. I'm a lover, not a fighter!

Other than that...I still have about 10 papers to grade...but I need to write 2 papers for my National Boards (WHY AM I DOING THIS AGAIN?) I am getting video tapped Wed., and need to have my shit together for it. Well, at least somewhat together and at least 1 paper done...can work on other paper next weekend after I grade ANOTHER 31 grad papers....wwwaaahhhhh!!! :hurray::lol::)

OK...enough complaining!

Hey gals...

It's Monday. I keep waiting for a "regular" week as well... still waiting. It's like life is just a tad off-kilter, about a half-beat off "normal"... every morning I wake up and think that today will be the day that it's back to normal... but then, no. Hm.

Well, hope springs eternal. Until then, I just keep plugging along.

Make it the best Monday it can be!

We had a couple inches of snow last night. So bizarre. Went into work late after it all melted. They say we may get more tonight. What is this crap!!!

Just had a sandwich-ready tuna salad (in a foil packet) by Starkist.. wasn't bad, and it was 100 calories for the whole pack. I still like homemade version better, I add more relish.

We applied for Individual Blue from BCBS to be covered outside of a company policy. They automatically denied me because I am 10lb too heavy. How funny is that, if I keep up with this dieting I will lose that 10lb within a month. They said I can re-apply then. But by then we have to make a decision. Life can be so..funny. Russ is like, well if you keep eating well AND work out, you could do it in a couple weeks! Yeah.. and if I was 5'4 I'd be short!

Hope you all had a good Valentine's Day.

Carson is soooooooo whiney the past week. Whines non-stop, I don't know what he wants and nothing seems to do it. He cut all 4 major teeth now, so... what is the deal?? :)

He's going to be walking any day now, he pulls up on everything, and lets go every time.

Speaking of the whiney-butt, gotta go!!

Kris told me the other day that Grady is getting in 3 more teeth at once. That will make 12 teeth by the time he is 12 months old March 3!!

In case any of you have been wondering... the people at the Poison Control center are very nice.

How do I know that, you ask?? Ethan was said he had to go pee so of course I congratulated him. He headed for the bathroom and was in there for quite a while. When I went in to check on him he had brushed his teeth... with Hydrocordisone-plus cream!!! He had an awful look on his face. I called the center and they said there shouldn't be a problem.. just keep him hydrated. He seems to be fine. I showed him where his toothpaste was and he said... "oh". It's fun being a Gramma!!! At least he won't itch on the inside of his mouth..

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
