Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Recommended Posts

hi hi hi! what a busy hectic monday... we are going to have to hire an expert audit team to come out and go through our 2009 books. apparently my former boss wasn't doing such a hot job and the accounts are a mess! WOW...

Heather - your idea is awesome of putting money away like that. We are such spenders! It's so hard for us to save. The only thing we really save right now is our 401K. I think we need to do a better job of having our savings account be plump...

Michelle - ugh, i'm sure you're still up to your ears in laundry and mess right now! I wouldn't want to be you! What resort did ya'll stay at?

Judy - that's great news about the wedding for Bob. Hopefully this turns into a lucrative side job for him. For you both!

Pam - I loved house hunting! So much fun! Where is your principal going that you have to take over her job for a few days? More stress?? augh!

Janey - did you mcgyver the envelopes for the tweezers? I wish you could send them via internet, LOL...

today i brought my workout clothes with me and planning on hitting the gym right after work. I'm getting ready to go get some chili for lunch... Might pair it with a side salad... we will see...

What a gorgeous day it is over here today! Sun is just so bright and it's not too cool... Juan is going to have lovely weather to go hunting with this weekend. Last weekend of the year! I'm off to lunch now!

oh and i meant to post of picture of me at the shooting range yesterday. I took a turn and ended up almost breaking my nose with the lens. I wasn't expecting the ricochet to be so much and I was too busy looking at the target! Man, I saw stars it hurt so much. Now just a big bruise, GREAT...

Good evening.

I have been nursing the kleenex box all day. Am ready to go to bed before it drives me totally insane. Let see I finished my antiobiotics Friday or Saturday, I would say they didn't work!! Just think I could have taken that 58 dollars and split it up between the violets!!! Wouldn't that have been a nice treat? I am such a bitter person sometimes.........

Good morning, Violets..

I'm here with Grady for my next to the last day. Will be staying here until tomorrow afternoon when the kids should be back. I hope I can be here when they arrive. I have choir rehearsal at 6, it's a 35 minute drive back to Alpena and their flight arrives in Detroit 10 10:20 and it's a 5 hour drive back home for them. Got my fingers crossed that the timing works out ok. I really want to see Grady's reaction when he sees them for the first time in 10 days.

Janie... sorry your meds didn't do the trick. I would be mad too.Hope you feel better today. Thanks for the heads up on Rosie on Oprah. I knew she was going to be on because I read her blog every day, but just hadn't turned the tv on all day. I got to watch the last part of the interview. Yup.. I'm a Rosie fan.

Lucy the St. Bernard here is feeling sad. Her brother Baxter went home with Grady's other grandparents. He has infected ears and they are taking him to the vet. Lucy was lost without her little buddy last night.. kept whining and looking for him. She's laying in my bed right now. Good thing she's cuddly for being over 100#!

Off to get things in order before Grady wakes up. He should be stirring any minute now. Everyone have a great day! Will check in when I can.

Hey Girlies~

Heather- I am!

Janie- perhaps you need an ENT doctor. If you are constantly nasal-ly sick, maybe it is allergies. Helped me last year...just a thought.

Speaking of which, Susanne was under the weather yesterday, and I woke w/ a sore throat:scared2: and feeling blah:frown:. Gonna pop some eccinacia in a bit!

bbl from work!

good morning!

just another busy busy day for me... I was here so late last night and when I went home I just crashed. I didn't even get up to make anything for dinner. Juan ended running out for tacos. I'm so tired again today...

Meeting with our priest today to finalize some stuff about the ceremony! So excited!! I'm gonna ask him about the music and the readings and about the flow of everything. I have tons of questions for him.

Meeting with yet another caterer tomorrow. Still trying to convince my parents to let me choose someething non traditional for dinner. I met with one chef and he let me sample his smothered pork chops and cheese grits and OH MY GOSH i was in heaven. SO SO GOOD. But no go with my mom.

Pam - hope you're not getting sick! Load up on EmergenC. It's these little packets, they sell them at the drugstore. Like 5000 milligrams of Vitamin C in each pack... should help in staving off any cold/flu

Judy - aww poor Lucy! I hope she gets her brother back soon. And you know they dont know whats going on so it hurts even more! I hope it does work out for you to see Grady when his mama comes home. He's gonna be so excited! How are you feeling? All over your sickiness?

Janey - ditto what pam said. sounds like you need a specialist. I still want to see pics of your hair!

Heather - oh yes my nose hurt so bad. I felt like I was gonna black out. It's still red! OMG, I saw little Ayla's pics online. TOO STINKING CUTE! She is just adorable. Any plans for another one or is the factory closed??

Michelle - after vacation sucks so bad! It hurts when just a few days ago you were laying in the warm sun sipping on something good with not a care in the world. Juan is booking our honeymoon tonight. We decided to go to Playa Mujeres there in Cancun. Short flight is what convinced me. Originally we had planned to go to Punta Cana but the flight to get there is soooo long and you have to change planes. I hate doing that. So anyways, we settled on Playa Mujeres. A resort called Excellence Playa Mujeres. All inclusive and for couples only... YEAH... LOL

Janie, maybe you should try the netti-pot which you can find for cheap in a pharmacy. It sounds gross but works really good to clean you out. Once you get rid of some of the gook, your own system will help to get rid of the sinus problems.

I had constant sinus problems (allergy related) until I started cleaning my nose out with Water every day. I just inhale water from my cupped hand into the sinus cavity three times and then blow everything out. This might sound hokey but it works for me, is free and takes less time than brushing my teeth. My brother had the same problem and he had the sinus surgery where they strip everything out and pack it with gauze - so painful and disgusting I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy.

Anyways, I really hope you feel better soon.

Haydee, Thanks . . . I think she is awfully darn cute too but of course I am biased. I think the factory is closed for the time being with only a maybe out in the future another year or two before I get anymore wrinkles or gray hair.

Actually, I think it is time we all start blowing a little violet baby dust in your general direction (well maybe we should wait 100 or so days, lol). :0)

Here are a couple of pictures of Ayla for those not on Facebook.< /p>

Good morning!!

I am in a better mood today!

Went to an ENT last year.

I think it is allergies, but nobody else believes me.

I guess Oprah is on at a different time in MI, at least you got to see a little bit!

Michelle, I remember when I went to Cancun 20+ years ago, we made a trip to Isla Mujares. It was a chartered boat and was a lot of fun!! Isn't their some amazing coral reefs there? Or close? Anyways I am sure it has changed so much since I have been there...........

Haydee, putting a pic on here would require me knowing what I was doing!! Your honeymoon sounds great!! How long will you stay?

Okay off for some errands before work!

You hit the nail on the head, Haydee... 3 days ago I was lounging in the sun, playing in the surf, with not a care in the world... & today I'm freezing, working, getting scratched by the cat as I try to take her to the vet, having to run errands & pick up kids & organize & plan & DO... bleh.

I *will* post pics... but @ the moment they're all on ds's camera & the cord I have to download pics doesn't fit his camera.

We didn't stay @ a "resort" per se... it was really just a hotel, I guess... Maria de la Mer or something like that... it was right on the beach & all the rooms faced into this gorgeous lush garden & the pool area... so beautiful! The rooms were very basic but clean... & we had a porch area w/tables & chairs that we sat outside all the time... + hammocks... ahhhhh. The "included" "breakfast" was coffee, oj, & toast! I ate more toast last week than I did all last year combined!

The Water was crystal clear and all these amazing shades of bright blue... yes, Janie, there were a lot of "day trippers" who came over from Cancun, + snorkeling & diving boats... we would laugh because the boats would anchor by our beach area where we could WALK out to! Funny.

Haydee, if you wanted there are day trips to Isla Mujeres... you & Juan should do the "Swim w/the Dolphins"! It was so neat!

Heather... she is so darn cute!!

Ok... back to work -- must. stop. thinking. about. Mexico.

Haydee, I got everyone's tweezers ready to go, but I only have your po address. I know I have the other someplace, but can't find it. Can you email it to me and I will ship them out tomorrow!!!!!!!

I cut a big envelope in thirds, the width only has to be 3 1/2 inches, all I can say is scissors when you open, cause I think there is too much tape!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
