Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Recommended Posts

Friday night is pizza night so because we're all home today I thought I'd make completely homemade pizza -- dough AND sauce both from scratch! But of course I had only 1/2 as much flour as I needed for the dough, sigh, so instead of being deep dish, it'll just be regular crust! Of course, I doubled the sauce, so I'll just freeze what I don't use. The dough will rise while we're at the barn, then I'll come home, put it all together, add a salad, & voila! Pizza night! The house smells so yummy w/the sauce simmering on the stovetop!

I feel so domestic today!

Off to flip the laundry & get ready to go...

Everyone have a great Fri eve!!

Tuesday night we dripped the faucets, insulated the pipes under the cabinet, and left cabinets open to get the heat... froze up. 2nd night we RAN the faucets, nice steady stream, still froze up. Nothing you can do, just cross your fingers they don't bust. In places that get this cold, the pipes in the walls are insulated well... here, well, they don't insulate them. The pipes are in the wall, an outside wall, and I can't get to them to do anything.

Snowing still today.. we came into work, everything that was closed said re-opened at 10am today, so we decided it's ok to drive.. it was for the most part.

Parents on their way back from Bahamas, they said they had to pay $10 each to get into the smoking area in the airport.. and they segregate men from women. How funny.

She has been sad that Carson is going to forget who she is.. and so tonight she is coming to get her keys from me around 7, and she said KEEP CARSON AWAKE. Don't see that happening!!

oh that sucks laura. to have that dread feeling of not knowing what's gonna happen with the pipes. that really sucks...

so bahamas was cold right now?? that sucked for your parents. but they go a few times a year, no? I'm thinking when we do our family trip to Isla this year it's gonna be cold... I hope not, i'm ready for some warmth! BUT, i'm not tanning this year. I'm gonna cover my face and arms as much as i can. I need to stay one color for the wedding and my color right now is just right...

michelle - YUM! homemade pizza sounds so good! So impressed! homemade dough and everything?!! I bet it tastes amazing...

I'm by myself tonight so I will probably have Cereal for dinner, LOL. I plan on getting home, putting my PJ's on and snuggling on the couch for the evening. Going to sleep early! And with all 4 dogs in bed! Yay! Then tomorrow it's deep clean day. Since Juan is out of the house it'll give me a chance to really pull everything out of everywhere and get everything organized. Our christmas decor is still up inside! Everything is down outside but I haven't had a chance to do the inside...

Laura - what's wrong with the baby??

I was running EXTREMELY late this morning so didn't post. Went into work and a lot of people canceled, so I canceled my last one and left after doing two people. I don't feel great, but not bad enough to be sick, but did come home and laid down for a while.

Haydee next time I am at the supply store I am going to buy you some more tweezers! They are really great tweezers and cheap, I have three pairs because I have chin hair!!!!

Okay I am going to lay back down, maybe I feel worse than I thought...

Rant alert ** I didn't have time to post this yesterday. WTF?? Took my computer to Best Buy to have the virus removed and when I picked it up yesterday the desktop wallpaper had been removed, my home page on Internet Explorer had been changed, favorites not showing, icons on the desktop were put in a folder, a geek squad icon was added, added a calendar, clock and notepad to the desktop, etc, etc. Ummm, isn't this my computer. Put it back the way you found it (minus the virus, of course!!). Rant over.

Since the computer has been gone for a week, I guess I'll be upstairs working all weekend. Probably not a bad thing -- it's chilly here in Charlotte too and the third floor of my townhome is the warmest and I'm so cheap right now I turn the heat way down on the main floor during the day. The top floor doesn't have a programmable thermostat so it is constant and the sunshine adds extra warmth to the office and the spare room. The cats love to sleep in the sun while I'm working.

Target and Curves have both cut my hours so I am going to have to watch every penny. Hate that!!

Years ago my Mom sent me a card that says grapevines (and probably people) have to be pruned back and it sometimes seems very severe, but that it is to make the roots stronger. Ok, kept the card as a great reminder but dang I'm tired of being pruned.....

Basta!! (Enough! in Italian) No more whining -- I'm going to get some work done!!

Have a good (warm) weekend!!

Good Morn, Girlies...

Took dd to the barn first thing this a.m., then went to the Y & did 20 mins on the arm/leg elliptical (which I've now learned is called the "arc"), then a quick stop @ the grocery store, & a quick stop to get my eyebrows waxed... now home.

The Y is a big deal because #1 I went by myself & #2 it was hella busy & there was nowhere to park... so I could've *very* easily talked myself out of it & who would've been the wiser... but I didn't! I found a spot, went in, & did it! Yay me!

Janie, please put me on the list for a couple tweezers... where do they go, I wonder? I buy them & then -- poof -- they're gone! I've never splurged on a really good or professional pair before... so yes, please! Any color (but a Vi one would be sweet!... I could think of my friends while plucking my eyebrows... lol!)

I have to bake Cookies for ds's indoor soccer team today... lord give me strength!!

1 week 'til we're in the air heading to WARMTH!! I can't wait! That thought alone should keep me out of the cookies!! Me in a bathing suit in a week! :):frown::eek::w00t:

Enjoy your days!

Hey Girls~

Did 1 hour and 20 min at the gym...20 min elip, abs, arms, back, obliques, more arms,...kicked my own ass! Personal best on the elip too! Came home and dunked 3 small xmas Cookies (almost gone) into the coffee! haha...

Michell, OWN THAT BEACH GIRL! Pull the girls up...work that sarong (sp) and walk around like your shit IS HOT!! It is all about the attitude! Sexy comes from within!!

Judy texted me from LA. Can't believe she is this close...but still so far. LA is crazy. Only 2 hours away but worlds away!

Laura, I hope the boys and you feel better soon!

Jane, when should I send a check...I am ready and want a puple one for sure! Friends that tweeze together stay together!

We saw The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo last night...AMAZING!!! It was in Swedish but sooo great and easy to follow. I loved it, but think we were the only ones who hadnt read the book. I came home and downloaded it last night. The lady next to Susanne (the house was packed, completely...and the house seats 1100...it was at our high school) ate some sushi crap that had this juice shit everywhere. She got it all over her hand. So I smelled it the entire time. That plus the guy (or gal) in front of us who kept "rippin' 'em off" (passing gas) the entire night. So I smelled ginger farts all night. AND I STILL LOVED THE MOVIE! Haha...it was great.

Today is "On These Shoulder We Stand" about the LGBT community in California in the 40's etc. And tonight is "White Ribbon" which I think is a German movie. We love the festival! Meet so many cool people.

OK...gonna take my little baby for a walk. I love the big guy and he didn't get a walk yesterday cause we were busy!

PS~ Sorry...but I am wearing shorts and a tank top for our walk. 75 today!

Suzy, i can't believe that the geek squad would move all your stuff around... that sucks that you have to redo it again...

i'm so sorry that you're struggling right now... it sucks that all i can say is "keep your chin up"... the only good thing is that you can come on here and vent anytime you need to... i hope things turn around for you, you deserve it...

janey - thanks for the offer of the tweezers, that would be fantastic. How are you feeling today? What was wrong yesterday?

michelle - aaaahhh, warm Cookies. i would be all over those!

pam - have fun today at all your movies!

send me violet strenght today! i'm having to do major major cleaning and i want to get it done before juan comes home tomorrow... right now i need to get off the computer, and get my butt moving.... aurghhhhhhhh here i goooooooo

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
