Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I agree with Laura . . . your own baby is the most beautiful and perfect without a doubt no matter what they are like. I loved kids before I had children, but you really do have a special bond from day one with your own.

pumpkin muffin and a french kruller donut for Breakfast. I am batting a thousand today. So . . . I accept that I made a bad choice this morning but it doesn't give me the leeway to blow the rest of the day. I will have a healthy lunch and dinner.< /p>

I thought maybe it was a slab of butter on a bun LOL. I knew that couldn't be right.

The port leaks, so *I* thought maybe the tube disconnected. When they did the xrays and everything it's hard to figure out what happened, but to ME (untrained) that's what I thought. He had 2 other docs with him and they debated.

So, I thought we were reconnecting the port. Well, they are charging me for a new lap-band, because the nurse said they are replacing the port-- which means they have to open a whole new pack. I am HOPING when they get in there, it's just disconnected and they can fix it, and then I get refunded $2,100ish of the money for no new band. But at this point they anticipate replacing the port. I guess when they get in there and figure out why it's leaking they will make that call. So one way or another, they're fixing the leaking port. I am asking him before they put me down, to FILL IT while I am under. He did last time they did port revision, but I want to make sure. I can't wait another month for this thing to get to working.

Oh, funny babies, I have all kinds of little baby toys (key ring, pepper shaker, spoons, etc.) and Carson likes them alright, but he gets bored... so my mom put them in a tubberware bowl (which I stole from her), and he LOVES his 'bucket of toys'. He will sit with them in his lap, dump the bucket over, and I put them back, he shakes the bucket, etc. Funny how something as simple as a tubberware bowl can entertain baby for a while.

Laura, do you get any kind of guarantee in writing that if they fix it and it is still leaking that they will revise it quickly at no additional cost? You have already had a port revision and with the leak as well . . . it just seems like too many problems with this particular band. What kind of band do you have?

Gah, what a mess with you Laura. I hope this time they stitch it in good and tight, LOL. Tell them to put krazy glue over the whole thing to make it bullet proof, LOL...

Heather - glad to hear that I won't be seeing all the deformities in my bebe, LOL. I love kids too but I think like you will just FALL IN LOVE with my own. Also because they are part of Juan who is my heart...

Hey Girls~

I LOVE Christmas! I used to not, (well, just a little) just thought about it as a lot of work. Now, I like doing the work. We have downsized quite a bit. I figure every few years we will get the big tree and do it up...but in between years, we bought this 4 ft. table top one that is already decorated. It is perfect! It is still some work...but I like our home at xmas. Just bought the cinnamon broom and fall flowers over the weekend. So it smells good in the house. Susanne and I already bought and got our gifts for each other. I will only buy a few for the kids...and that is it! I like the feeling, the Cookies, the warmth...I sound like a freakin' Hallmark commercial!

Good luck on Friday Laura. I hope you lose tons...lose some for me too! I suck at this...but am soooo happy I met ya'll! My dear friends for life!

I am leaving work today at 10:20. We are having min. days, and I am going to run some errands then met ppl for lunch! LOL...I love min. week!

My new table gets there Friday!! It is going where that little one is Haydee...except it is bigger. The glass top will be there on Thursday.

My goal today is NOT pb. I have had a rough few days and don't want to keep pb'ing and irratate it. Having a salad for lunch. I can do that...it is the "real food" that gets me every time.

HAYDEE...TAKE PIX TODAY AND KEEP US POSTED! I am sooo excited for you.

Who wants to organize our trips and stays? PLEASE...I can't do it! I promise I wont complain one bit!

OK...gotta boogey!

As for organizing... I tried last time and thought I had it all set and then it all changed. That's not a real incentive to do it all over again. I personally can't make any money commitments until after the holidays. But I'll certainly go along with whatever the group decides. How many of us will be going?? I know the Bobster is coming with me and he's more than willing to drive a rental car.

Off to clean out the "gym". fun, fun..

Ahhhh, done with the "gym". Now there is no excuse not to start exercising next week. We took out 5 big garbage bags of winter clothes to take to St. Vincent's for resale. There are still some spring things, but I'll wait to take those in. I hope by next spring there will be more things to get rid of. I NEED to be at goal!!!

Day 3 of good eating is winding down. I had a couple of bites of tuna for breakfast, tortilla encrusted talapia for lunch. I had 5 Ritz crackers with tuna for a snack and will try and have fish for supper or maybe some Soup. No sweets, no ice cream... I CAN do it!! Bob got a little caramel apple pie and a couple of pumpkin donuts from the bakery. I haven't had any of it. It's hard, but I need to do it to prove that I can.

I have choir rehearsal at 6 tonight and I usually go early, so I'll leave in a little bit. I'm watching Discovery Health again. The program is I Lost It and it's about people who have lost lots of weight.

Good eve, Vi's~~

Another good eating day... B=van/chai pro shake, L = 2 scrambled eggs w/tom/olives/feta, S = no sugar added fruit pop, D = 1 salmon/crab pinwheel. Oh, and a 100 cal vitatop.

But wish me strength, because tonight and/or tomorrow morning, I must bake at least 10 dozen, and perhaps 20 dozen, oatmeal chocolate chip Cookies for the HS soccer teams for tomorrow night, + DD's 11th b'day cake, which will be a chocolate mousse cake in the shape of a heart. Help me!

Good evening, Violets..

Choir is done, dinner is done and day 3 of good eating is almost done. I ended up splitting chicken fajitas with Bob. We brought home a whole serving so neither one of us ate a whole lot. However he has had 2 pumpkin donuts and a mini-caramel apple pie. I survived all of that without sneaking a bite!

PamELa... did you know you can become a friend of Tristan Rogers on Facebook? ?? And it's good to know he's still hot since he's only one year older than I am. Hopefully I'm still hot too...:tt2::crying:

Michelle.. be strong tonight and tomorrow. One minute at a time. You've been good for 2 days.. don't blow it for a cookie or a bite of chocolate mousse cake!!!! Not even one bite is worth it.

Off to watch Glee and Modern Family. Everyone have a good evening. sleep well.

Good evening!!

Okay I am going to add Sling Blade to the movie list. I came home tonight and it was on, and remembered I liked it. I am going to tape it again so I can see the whole thing!

I am not 100% sure that I am going to the wedding, I really really want to, but need to see that business still holds for me. I am still planning on it, but am sort of nervous too!!

Today was a terrible day. I am going to spend the rest of this complaining, so beware!! First thing, when I had my band put in I had a before picture taken a couple of weeks before by Charlie, well I am wearing that shirt!! It pained me to put it on. It really bummed me out! Then yesterday my mom fell and hurt her leg and she went to the Dr. today and found it was fractured! Now I think of this as she is just lucky that it wasn't worse, but she was in no mood, and she just brings me down when she gets like this. I am doing my best struggling through my funk, and then this. She does not make a good patient!!! Okay I am done complaining and off to Michelles house for some Cookies and cake!!!!!!!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
