Lost Too Much Weight

Recommended Posts

No worries! I wish you luck with your future appointments and I think if you can prove your history, you will be fine.

Talk through your concerns with your surgeon and tell him how it's making you feel about the possibility of not being able to get the band. I sympathise with you as I thought I may not be able to get the band due to not having any co-morbidities. Due to anxiety issues, I am also on anti-depressants and I can only imagine the worry you are feeling now. I think you have done a great job losing the weight that you have. I am sure there are many people that have done the same as you and ended up being banded. Try not to stress too much

Thank you SO much!!! My anxiety is through the roof right now. Not only am I worried about my insurance approving this procedure, but I feel I can't talk to my doctor about it since he is reluctant to do the procedure due to the amount of weight I loss on my own. All I did was follow the diet the nutritionist gave me to a T and exercised like a maniac. I hardly thought I'd lose 20 pounds in 6 months (for insurance approval), so I tried really hard.... now I am stressing over it. So frustrating. I am working with my therapist on these issues too. It's nice to have the opinions of those who have actually been where I have been though(the dieting, weight gain, etc.). That's why I posted. I needed support of those who can relate to what I am going through-- 17 years of obesity. Thank you again!!! Now it's time for me to take some deep breaths and just see what happens.

umystifyme, just a suggestion- write down all the real attempts you have made to lose weight- don't rely on the doctor's records. You may have had the records transferred but have had many doctors in your attempts. it will help.

Well... I talked to the program coordinator for the bariatric program that I went through and she will be submitting my documents to the insurance company for approval tomorrow. I asked her what she thought.... she said she has never been in this position before, as she has never seen a patient lose this much weight in the program. She said it is BCBS's policy to go by the patient's initial weight and BMI and that is how she is submitting it. All I can do right now is hope and pray. I'll feel much better once it is approved. I hope it doesn't take too long to hear back from them.

Thanks for all the lovely comments and words of encouragement. It really helped me through a weekend when I was totally freaking out!

I have NY BCBS and she is right they go on the original weight before the loss. You doctor can call them and fight for you.

Do NOT freak out..the worst that can happen is they deny you.then the doctors can fight for you,

NY BCBS needs you to have the urgery they save on your meds if you are denied,

In your case only Donald Trump can say ...DENIED!!

Keep us posted :)

I hope it doesn't get to the point that I have to fight for it but if it does, I hope my doctor would call and do that for me. My hope right now is that I will be approved. I have to call my doctor's office tomorrow and find out how long it usually takes to hear back from BCBS of MI. I'm stressing a bit....

Thanks for your support and I will keep you all updated!! :)

THEY fight for you..they want the money....and in NY they do repeat...do fight...:)

I just found out that the insurance I had that time..would have given me a visiting nurse....so just relax.

they will find a way

Go to another doctor. That may be his opinion, get a second opion and tell the doctor that you already went through the 6 month program and that you do not want to be a victim of the yo-yo syndrom again.

Good luck !

That's exactly my next step. I contacted a surgeon that I saw last year. So, if this isn't approved and he won't fight for me, then I will have to go see her and see what she will do for me.

Thanks!

I have finally decided to look into bariatric surgery....I weighed 296 in 1998; went to a weight loss clinic and lost 120 lbs, but within two years it all came back on....I have tried and tried since then, but currently weight my all-time high of 325. I am scareed about the powerlessness I feel the last six months..have never ever felt this out of control..and completely unable to curb my appetite.

I am so heavy (5"8") and BMI of 49. the doctor won't give me diet pills anymore because it could hurt my heart. I am 63 and am pretty resigned to Water aerobics and that's about all I can do...the rest of the day on the computer...no social life left at all. husband quietly enraged, but loves me and is very good in spite of his anger at me. he understands but it still makes him angry that I cannot get more "willpower." He smokes. so he understands how hard it is. BUt I want to do this because I truly no longer am the same person I was even 50 lbs ago...cannot walk very well, etc. tired easily.

I have finally decided to look into bariatric surgery.......................

Seriah-

I have gone through the clinics and lost the weight and gained it back, been to all the mountains and back. REad my blog even with all the troubles (family) this year..I still lost weight. I am the biggest fan of the lapband and please write me a personal message and I can ease your fears.. I am 54 and this is the greatest.

I help support groups when they call me because Ms. Fearful finds this sssssssssoooooooo easy and just really happy.

The reason I am asking you to communicate off the boards you will need to find a surgeon who you can communicate with. Mine, for the first time in my life listens to ME and understands. I am not the quickest loser because I have bad asthma that prevents me from doing hard exercises and ugh..to some things..lol..age...but I see a really wonderful healthier body.

Please private message...go into my profile and this way it is easier.:P

Glad you found this page

Laura

PS....It took me close to 5 years to have lapband due to fear and if I had gone into a caring doctor..I would have done it..but all we went to was crooks...who new about this site ... also family friend had it done but listened to DH who said you can do it..well I CAN NOT ..that is why lapband rules...:frown:

My doctor's office mailed my documents to BCBS for pre-determination today. I am confused about this whole pre-determination process. Is this when they either approve me or deny me for the procedure? I'm stressing... I will feel better once I understand this whole process. I will feel even better once they stamp approval on my form!!!

Yes, BCBS will then send your surgeon a pre approval letter which means you really "approved". With that letter the surgeon can get his money if the insurance company decides try and not pay him.... but thats another story.

BCBS easy approval... Yay

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
