Hello,

I am 3 days post-op and had a terrible night! PROFOUND headache and nausea - It took everything I had not to vomit. I think I have turned a corner but any suggestions? Did this happen to you? When will I start feeling good again?

Thanks I'm probably just being a baby!

Hey,

Sorry you aren't feelnig well:( Few questions.. are you getting enough to drink? Sometimes dehydration can cause headaches. Also, did you drink coffee/caffinated beverages prior to surgery? The headaches when you withdraw from those are Nasty! I definatly had some bouts of nausea post op, I got sent home with yummy liquid green medicine for that:) Keep an eye on it, call your doc if it happens again.

Hi:

I have issues with nausea when I take prescription pain killers. I switched to liquid tylenol as soon as I got home from the hospital when I was banded.

As far as the headache goes, if I go without caffeine I get a headache. I never gave up coffee and I never will!

Hope you feel better soon.

Sue

Oh yeah,

Regarding feeling good. A lot is how well you care for yourself post op. Rest, following the diet etc. Some people take longer to feel better than others. My job is pretty hectic, but I felt I could return in a week, but I took two anyway:) Good luck!

Did your doc give you an anti-nausea med? I always have some on hand just in case. My doc encourages us to have it so we don't vomit. I don't know if you are drinking enough Water, but sometimes you can get a headache from dehydration. I am just guessing, but I know it isn't any fun when you don't feel well!

You will feel better! It does take awhile to get back on your feet, so give it some time! The things that helped me were sipping my Water so I didn't dehydrate, walking to get the gas from surgery out of my system and I also found that I enjoyed warm broth - it went down well and felt good in my tummy!

Best of luck!

I probably need a bit more Fluid but it all makes me nauseous. I have not taken pain meds since the first day and sip on tea so that should take care of the caffeine. AHHHH I hate feeling like this. I just want to get up and clean the house and make my family a nice dinner.< /p>

We had surgery the same day. I'm sorry your not feeling well. I've been walking a lot and drinking plenty of Water. I found sucking on popsicles has helped a lot too.

I had the same problem and found out I had stomach flu right after I had surgery. At first, I thought I had made the biggest mistake of my life. Once the flu was gone I was golden. Have you been to see your PCP? That is how I found out I had the flu.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
