I have a huge belly!

Recommended Posts

I haven't been banded yet, I'm still futzing around with insurance. What I want to know is how fast you lose inches from the belly/tummy/gut area. I look like a big egg with legs (and arms and a head). Do you tend to lose it more or less evenly all over or do you notice it more in the larger parts?

I think it depends on your shape. I'm a Pear. Big butt and thighs, smaller through the shoulders with a "small" waist. I also lose from the top down, although my feet have shrunk. So far, I'm losing more in my upper body but I AM loisng in the butt and thighs, and my waist! 4 inches, I think?

My sister is shaped differently than me. Sounds like she's more your shape, but when she loses, her belly is the last to go. Skinny legs, skinny arms, big in the middle areas.

Eventually though, it evens out. I can't wait to see what I look like underneath all this fat!!

Kathy,

I'm glad to hear your feet got smaller. My feet have gotten so big, it's difficult to find attractive shoes. Not only have they grown in length but have gotten really wide as well. I hope they trim down with the rest of me when I get banded.

Wherever your problem area is will be the last place you lose it I think. I'm more of a pear shape and its only been in the last 20kg that the weight has gone onto my stomach and boobs - before that I was about 20kg overweight but tall and people absolutely couldnt believe I weighed as much as I did. I can guarantee that the weight will go off opposite to what it came on - boobs, belly and plenty from face and arms, and then slowly slowly slowly off the bum and thighs. I know that at my goal weight which is around 72kg, I still have a bit of a problem in the area. Because my tummy's not huge I dont think I'll ever need a Tummy Tuck from overstretched skin but I reckon I'll be having a bit of Lipo just to finish off all my hard work.

I started with a *huge* belly. I looked 18 months pregnant.

7 months, and 38kgs later, I look almost normal. I will be needing a Tummy Tuck. I plan on having it when I hit 80kg (only 7 kg to go woo hoo) I still have a huge overhang of skin and fat, but nothing a good surgeon cant take care of.

I have pics in my OH profile

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
