Docs in Buffalo NY ?

Recommended Posts

I am newly banded and living in AZ, I will be living in Buffalo part time on and off for the next year or so. Im looking for advice of which doctors/hospitals to use should I have problems that cant wait. Also any support groups that might welcome a stranger? Thank you in advance.

Dr. DiBenedetto has two locations near buffalo..one in Lockport (which is fairly close) and one in Rochester (about an hour away)...i'm in Rochester so I can tell you the affiliate hospital here is Rochester General Hospital...I'm not quite sure about his Lockport Hospital.

His wife runs the support groups and they are both just fabulous! Everyone is ALWAYS welcome and we have some people who travel very far for the monthly support groups...we have someone who comes down from Canada and a few other ladies who come from about 45 minutes away each month. Our Rochester support groups meet the THIRD wednesday of each month at RGH from 6-8pm.

HTH!

I would like to to bring your attention to the gastric band support group moderated at Synergy Bariatrics in Williamsville on the third Tuesday of every month at 6 pm. This is a very popular, topic-driven meeting moderated by a certified bariatric nurse who is also a bariatric surgery patient.

Synergy Bariatrics is directed by Dr. Caruana and there are two other surgeons in the group. Of course, you or anyone else who is interested may attend their support group meetings.

Good luck and happy travels.

Thanks for the info, hopefully I can still find my way around Western NY and remember how to drive in the snow. I look forward to meeting some "Buffalo Bandsters"

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
