So glad I found this thread as it is making me feel human and has melted pretty much every single frustration I've had since getting my band almost a month ago and replaced them with motivation and hope.

I was diagnosed with PCOS 6 years ago but never thought it was that big of a deal...or a real thing...due to the way it was explained to me (as an explaination for my symptoms after ruling out all other possible causes) and the fact that my sister supposedly also has it and spent the last 5 years of her life pregnant with her 4 kids. It seemed as if she just looked at her husband and was pregnant again. Not to mention the fact that she droped her baby weight effortlessly while eating nothing but garbage and not exercising.

So as a result of these things...along with the frustrations of trying to get a dr. to do anything about it seeing as how i'm unmarried and not trying to conceive, I've been untreated pretty much my entire life and never knew that much about it or what to do or why, despite my best efforts at every diet and exercise plan known to mankind I was having limited (or no) success. Jumping on the scale at LA Weightloss and seeing I'd lost 15 pounds for the month was awesome...until I'd get weighed 3 days later and see that, nope I'd managed to gain 10 or twelve of them back without changing a single thing I was doing. And so it's gone with the band as well. My scale hasn't moved in nearly 3 weeks. I was beyond frustrated and wondering what in God's name I'd done to myself and why I'd done it if I was just going to fail yet again...especially seeing the tremendous weightloss others on these boards have had. :)

That was until I found this thread and read nearly every post to date...in one sitting. You ladies are awesome! :hurray: The successes you are having are inspiring and the tips I've read have renewed my hope in myself...and my band. I'm once again motivated to stick with it and try everything possible to kick this (the weight and the PCOS) for good...even if it takes me the next 10 years. Can't wait to put into practice some of the things I've read and look forward to learning more. Not only about life with PCOS and this band, but about each of you as well. (awwwww....sappy as hell, but true.)

I have had PCOS since I was 16 and it has been hell! I was told very young I would not conceive but after droping 30 lbs I was pregnant!! That was almost 8 yrs ago and I have been wanting another child ever since I had Halie. I want to have the band soo band!! I read that in Europe the band is considered fertility surgery. Women who had PCOS are getting pregnant. Several gyn's told me just loose weight and you'll be fine. Major Lie!! PCOS almost makes it impossible to loose weight. I am part of another site called SoulCysters.com. These women discuss treatments and they are soo informative. I learned about proper treatment from Discovery Health Mystery Diagnosis, to think that PCOS is on that show. I took the info from the show to my Gyn amd she gave me the right meds. I have had consistant cycles now. Weight loss is my next venture.. Its great to have you on here and I read every thread too. I am obsessed with this site. Thanks for reading and relating

I can relate to you and how you feel. I have pcos and my sister which is about a year older than me we got banded together on the same day last year on may (2009) Ive been exercising this whole time, i try to watch what i eat and absolutly no sweets for me! On the other hand, my sister, has not exercised one day, she thinks walking our dog who stops every 2 steps is a form of cardio, she eats Cookies and brownies and what ever she gets her hands on. And I mean ANYTHING. Well i thought i was being fat this whole time and that theres something wrong with me because I started off at 215 and went down to almost 180, but then out of nowhere with out changing my habbits except for exercising more because i started school, I dorm, I gained back most of the weight back. I keep juggling back from 190 to 195. Its depressing and I hate it. I look at myself and say "hey where did this come from?" and then one week itll be gone, but then it will return. My doc told me i still need some more restrictions since I didnt go every 6 weeks since I was soo busy with school. But Im keeping my hopes high and tomorrow I schedule the swallow test to see if I stretched my pouch out. Good luck! We can do this, all of us! I have faith and hope!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
