Uh, I'm new. I heard that the band is white. And if you eat only white food it kinda bounces off the band and you don't gain no weight or nothing. My surgeryone told me this. He said that it also meant I din't have to worry bout no more babies. Cause I'se white and my babies is white and the band is white. Right??? Please answer soon. My doc's got that look in his eye...

Do your research! Make sure you talk to as many people as you can and take their word as the absolute truth! Don't listen to your surgeon, he could care less about you! He is probably going to get you preggers! Watch out!

Oooh, I was hoping no one would catch on to that. Searching eBay too!

You can't buy a replacement for Fluffy - that's illegal unless you're HH - cause he's King of all things - especially my world.

I'm new too. Can someone tell me if my insurace will pay for the band? How can I find out?

Wait a few months. Obama will pay for it. Unless you're old. Or ugly. Then you're useless to society.

So these bands are adjustable? Hmmm, so I can "do" any size dude or donkey. Cool. Do you like get a special tool and go thru your belly button to adjust to size? I'm new and this is just the bestest site. I learned lots of new stuff. I just knew my surgeon was an idiot. Heck, he doesn't have a band. What does he know?

Beth just gave you some great advice! I hope you are young and somewhat attractive so that you can get the band!

I don't think I'll tell anyone I'm having surgery. Do you think any one will notice if I lose like 70 pounds?

Depends on how fat you start out.

I tell people I have tapeworm. Stops the questions short, and they don't bother me anymore.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
