September 2009 Band Date

Recommended Posts

Well I had my first fill today. I have 2.7 cc's in my band now. They also said that I had a little stenosis at the stoma which causes a little of a natural band. He said it's like I have two bands and that I probably will not need as many fills as some, so that's cool. Just when I had started on real foods now I'm stuck on liquids again for a week, then soft foods for 7 days and then I can have real food again, Oh well it will fly by. The needle was not bad at all. I thought it would be worse, but I almost didn't even feel it. I am also drinking fine, so that is good. Well hope everyone is fine. Will check in later.:tongue2:

I was banded on Sept. 18, and am definitely on the mend. Almost no pain at all now, except for some at the port site, but just occasionally. I am still pretty tired though and am sleeping a lot. I've lost about 15 lbs (I think; my home scale is not very accurate), and am very happy about that.

Just another 3 days on liquids for me and then on to mushies!! I can't wait. :(

Hey, is there somewhere on the board here that tells you how to put one of those weight loss tickers in your signature? I can't find out how to do it.

I'm anticipating my doc appt thrusday. What did they do to you today? How did they know about your stenosis? Were there more test done. Can you get sick of the doctor with this process cause I kinda am.

Hi, femme I'm glad youre doing okay. Are you back at work yet? I am and I am soooo tired. i am a teacher assistant so I do alot of walking and I swear I wish kids still took naps so I could join them. Now I'm having a different kind of pain now that i am working. I have been thinking that maybe I haven't been using my turso muscles so much and they have weakened and now that I am using them they are sore. Is that a possibility. All I know is i'm hurting in the front of my tummy. No where near the port sometimes I'm have a shot of pain on my left side. Anyone else?

It was explained on this page but I dont know which page or how to explain it to you. Sorry.

goto tickerfactory.com and create your ticker, copy the html

goto USER CP

edit signature

paste html code and save

make sure you use a pin so you wont have to redo the ticker as you adjust it!

Thanks for the responses and well wishes. I am still in the hostpital getting fluids and antibiotics. I'm really not having any pain, but the nausea is horrible. My Dr said today, they will probably band me on Monday, and I imagine I will go home tomorrow. I miss my dog soooo bad, so I really cannot wait to go home! Thanks again!

Thanks, yes foliage is coming, trees are turning, although my friends from the Cape say its still green there, thank you for the words, so how has your journey been, what Proteins have you been taking? I've found that MIX1 is easy for me and its good, and I'm super grateful for no nausau, gas or pain, I feel a tightness when I move at my port site, but I also had hernia repair so all in all it didn't really feel like surgery. My hubby is from LA, New Iberia.......have you started excercise? Nice to meet you

I am drinking a Protein Drink called PrescriptFit,its pretty good, I have added mushies now, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs and tuna with a little light mayo. I have some tightness @ port site but its less and less each day. My doctor wont allow anything but low impact cardio, I have slowly increased my walking and now do 90 mins.

I asked about the foilage because we are leaving on a cruise from boston-new orleans in 3 wks.:(

Amanda did they do the fill w/ an x-ray - how can they tell there is a stenosis of the stoma?

I am leaving on a cruise 10-17. Makes me nervous. At that point I will be 7 weeks out. Any suggestions to make my food choices easier?

Where are you going? my cruise will be 14 days, I hope to stick to seafood and veggies and stay away from red meat. Last cruise I did had some great classes and gym equipment. My husband enjoys walking with me and we hope to do a walk each morning. We usually try to do it at sunrise, its sooo peaceful!

They did the fill under fluoro so they saw the stenosis on the x-ray. Not a big deal. No, I love my doc. He's great.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
